Flashback scenes play an important role in the prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin.
Dexter: Original Sin is currently filming its third episode, titled "Miami Vice," in Los Angeles. Production officially began on June 5th in Miami, Florida, where only certain cast members were present to shoot exterior scenes, capturing an authentic Miami vibe for the first season.
One of these cast members is the young actor playing a younger version of Dexter Morgan in the 1980s flashbacks. His name is Daniel, but his last name and age have not been publicly disclosed.
If you watched the behind-the-scenes video released by Showtime last Wednesday, you might have noticed him in a family photograph alongside Christian Slater (Harry Morgan), Jasper Lewis (Doris Morgan), and the young actress portraying toddler Deb:
In the original series, young Dexter Morgan was portrayed by Dominic Janes for five episodes in seasons one and two:
Just like the casting of Dominic Janes in the main series, which was based on his resemblance to Michael C. Hall (a choice the casting directors executed exceptionally well), this new casting for young Dexter in the prequel was based on the looks of Patrick Gibson, who portrays the 20-year-old version of America's favorite serial killer.
While in Miami, Daniel shared a reel on Instagram (managed by his parents due to his young age) of himself outside his 'Dexter' trailer:
Soon, we'll learn about more actors cast in various roles for Dexter: Original Sin, with the most notable being the actor portraying the younger version of Tom Matthews.
