Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Release Date: Everything We Know So Far

Here's what we know so far about the Season 2 premiere date and when an official announcement is most likely to arrive.

Filming for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is currently underway across New York City, and while Paramount and Showtime have not announced an official premiere date, the current production schedule already suggests a fall 2026 release window.

When Is Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Expected to Premiere?

In late 2025, showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips shared that Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is planned for a fall 2026 debut.

With summer 2026 already in progress, that timing still matches how production is moving forward. Based on the current plan, the most likely release period now appears to be between the last week of September and October 2026, with early October standing out as a very strong option. Even though nothing has been officially confirmed yet, all available information continues to support this timeframe.

Why the Fall 2026 Window Fits the Production Timeline

One of the main reasons the fall window makes sense, actually comes down to the production schedule itself.

While Season 1 began filming in early January in order to reach its premiere window, Season 2 started production a few months later, with cameras rolling in New York in mid-April. This three-month gap moves the entire process further into the year.

Moving the premiere into the fall gives Showtime and Paramount more time for post-production work, helping ensure the new season is fully ready and polished before release.

The 20th Anniversary Factor also adds meaning here. A possible early October release would be in time for the 20th anniversary of Dexter, which would be a fitting moment for Paramount to bring the series back and mark two decades of the franchise.

When Could the Release Date Be Announced?

Even as the release window becomes more clear, fans are still waiting for an official announcement from Paramount and Showtime.

San Diego Comic-Con in late July could definitely play an important role in that reveal. Over the past few decades, the Dexter franchise has had a very strong presence at Comic-Con when new seasons are coming, so it could be used for a teaser trailer, a panel update, or even an actual release date reveal.

If that happens, we could get confirmation of the premiere date, way sooner compared to last year. There is also a chance that Paramount reveals the date earlier through a teaser trailer rollout, similar to the promotional strategy used for Season 1.

With Comic-Con coming up soon, the uncertainty around Dexter’s return probably won’t stay unknown for much longer!
