Via: Press Release: Season 7 returns in explosive fashion, as Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is finally forced to confront his greatest fear, as Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) witnesses his insatiable, ritualistic slaying of a killer. Now Deb knows the secret of his Dark Passenger, his undeniable thirst for blood, and the Code that their father Harry ('James Remar') instilled in him as a young boy.
But as Deb tries to reconcile the unfathomable idea that her beloved, mild-mannered brother is Miami’s most notorious serial killer, Dexter is still pulled by his natural impulses to seek out the guilty and exact his brand of vigilante justice, which leads him on the trail of a brutal Ukrainian mobster (Ray Stevenson).
Along the way, Dexter meets Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski), a strong, independent woman with a past that she's struggled to put behind her. As a turn of events leads Miami Metro Homicide to ask for her help in solving some old cases, Dexter works with her and begins to wonder if there's more to this woman than she's professed.

ReplyDeleteI'm simply pointing out the basic courtesy that webmasters should follow.
This press release was posted first on SpoilerTV and it was copied here by the owner. How do I know.. well SpoilerTV always make changes to the Press Release so they can see who copies them.
The changes that are made are on this post above.
It says "source: spoiler TV" on this article...

DeleteGoing by the wording of this, we know that Dexter's story to Deb won't hold. It says that Debra learns the secret of The Code and of him being the BHB. I'm relieved.
ReplyDeleteYea we knew that months ago - but for some reason people keep forgetting.
DeleteThe most obvious spoiler was the one Lauren Velez gave when she said that Maria shows Deb the blood slide and says she is re-opening the BHB case, and Deb in a panic goes straight to Dexter and warns him "they are on to you".
That happens somewhere in the first few episodes. Deb would not warn Dexter if she did not already know he was the BHB so yes, it's GOING to happen and happen sooner than people think.
Also we have seen a still of Deb vomiting after Dexter tells her something in episode 1 or 2. Would she really fall to her knees and puke if he was just re-affirming his lies?
Yea, they are freaking going for it. Love it.
Z
I knew that LaGeurta re-opens the BHB case, but I did not know that second piece. I must have missed it, so thanks for telling me. I LOVE the idea of Deb helping Dexter not get caught. So much potential here, I really hope they don't drop the ball this season.

DeleteI am trying to find that interview but I can't. I remember it so specifically because my jaw literally hit the floor when I read it. I was thinking at the time "WOW, I can't believe she dropped a major spoiler like that... is she allowed to say that?"
I've found an interview that says similar things but the whole bit about her confiding in Deb and then Deb going straight to Dexter about it is gone. Is it possible this was edited out, and the interview re-released? Going to do some more searching, and if I can't find it - have to think it was either redacted or my memory has gone completely sideways.
Anyone else remember that interview?
Z
I did however find this bit from producer Sara C.
DeleteWARNING MAJOR MAJOR SPOILER: (But this is a spoiler site so you should not be opening threads if you don't want to be spoiled, lol!)
"For Deb, she’s always suffered from feeling like Daddy’s second best. She realizes now, too, that this was never her being second best. SHE WILL LEARN ALL ABOUT HARRY TRAINING DEXTER and that is another thing that is going to rock her world. Again, in the pilot, when Harry tells Dexter that people deserve to die, and when Deb hated Jordan Chase and she says, “Maybe there are people who deserve to die.” It’s a very complicated year on that level. We’re really enjoying exploring all of these things because now it’s all out in the open."
Obviously Deb can't learn about Harry training Dexter if Dexter tries to pass this off as a one time thing.
I've noticed on Youtube and such, that some Dexter fans are still clinging to the belief that the show runners are not going to pull the gun and that Deb is not going to figure this out until the end of the season, and that they are going to back away from Deb's feelings.
This is just not the case, things from here are going to move quickly. And we are going to see a total transformation in Debra. A TV critic I was reading just this morning commented that Debra's transformation/corruption this season from a good cop to what she becomes by the end of the season, will rival Walter White's transformation on BrBa over the course of several seasons. Whether that conjecture is just soup or not, I am not sure, but critics/spoiler sites with reputations to keep up don't usually throw stuff like that out there unless they had a strong feeling from the producers that this is where it is going.
I am starting to believe that Deb is not only going to learn to live with what Dexter is, she is going to embrace it, and ultimately him as well.
I am stoked for this year!
Z
OMG!!! YESSS, IM SO EXCITED, ONLY 63 MORE DAYS---shit, i can't believe im actually excited for summer break to end -_-
ReplyDeleteWhy do I have feeling that Deb will end up dead at the end of this season...?
ReplyDeleteTowards the end of S8, yea, all bets are off and I'd give Deb's chances of survival a 50-50 shot, but S7? They are building the whole final two seasons of the series around the chemistry between these two actors - Deb is almost as iconic as Dexter at this point.
DeleteZ
Too much fuss around Hannah is what bothers me...It's like she's a new leading lady right now...It's just a feeling..I hope I'm wrong.
Delete5:32
DeleteI love Yvonne, but yea, I understand your concern because I love Jennifer more and I have been waiting for this stuff between Dex and Deb to surface for years now.
The idea of being teased with it, and then having it taken away, would feel like winning the lottery and getting there and finding out that they called out the wrong numbers and you get nothing.
Z
God..I hope Deb doesn't die, I don't even think I would have made it through Season 6 without her.
Delete12:31
DeleteI wouldn't have made it through Season 3 & 4 without Deb. Season 3 is where she really became as important to me as Dexter. Now I like her way better because she doesn't do stupid shit like giving evil serial killer's mercy passes while bugging up police investigations. I mean, WTH is up with that?
Z
I LOVE all the storylines that they will be covering this year except the fact that "a brutal Ukrainian mobster" will probably be the "Big Bad"...I was hoping for a more interesting (serial killer) Big Bad like Trinity or The ITK.
ReplyDeleteThe "Big Bad" is probably the least of my concerns. There are far more interesting stuff going on this season. Anyway we hardly know anything about his character yet but at least he's described as brutal, sounds good enough to me. Can't have another sissy running around with a rusty sword lol.
DeleteYeah, but just cause there are more interesting things to focus on doesn't mean the writers actually will.
DeleteNo it doesn't. And I never said that. And you're negative vibes make me want to kick somebody, in the neck.
DeleteRegarding Hannah McKay and there being 'more to this woman than she professed', as mentioned in the last paragraph... we know that she has turned states witness to avoid jail time, but perhaps she is being used here as a means to reinvestigate the BHB case. (Pure speculation on my part but I'll run with it)
ReplyDeleteWe know her character appears about half way through S7, so perhaps LaGuerta has gone with the blood slide to the FBI, who consider Dexter as a possible suspect due to his antagonistic relationship with Doakes, coupled with their knowledge that the BHB had to be someone within Miami Metro. Maybe Quinn could also have some involvement in pointing the FBI in Dexter's direction.
Perhaps McKay will end up as someone sent to get close to Dexter and attempt to prove that he is the Bay Harbour Butcher. If she is only going to have a 6-7 episode arc, perhaps the season will end with the FBI, through McKay, exposing Dexter and him going on the run, being helped to escape with the aid of Deb.
I can't think of any other reason why they would bring this character in. Surely not as a straightforward love interest for Dexter? That would be absurd at this late stage in the series. I would hazard a guess that she will end up setting up the show's end-game which will play out through S8.
When they announced Hannah character, that was before YS was hired, they already said she will be important character in seasons 7 and 8. Also according to the promotional slides Hannah will first appear in episode 3, so pretty early in the season.
DeleteAnd I don't want to burst anyone bubble, but Deb character plays secondary role in about 75% of the episodes and the show is firmly focused on Dexter. Also big seasonal quest star, be that John Lithgow, Julia Stiles or Jimmy Smits played bigger role than Debra in their respective seasons, so it'll likely be the case with Hannah as well.
Well, the theme of this season is supposed to be "The consequences of love" so I think the focus will be on Dex & Deb.
Delete6:40
DeleteHer first day of shooting on Dexter was a few days previous to Comic Con - Episode 5, "Swim Deep" - Lithgow and Smits were introduced in EP1 of each season and Lumen in E2.
Deb has never been in the promos before except as part of the ensemble, she has never shared such heavy attention and been in all the publicity shots in the promotion of a season. All the hype, all the attention has been on Dex/Deb.
But of course you are right. The season isn't going to be about her and Dex at all. It will just be a side note and Hannah, a character that has not existed for SIX SEASONS of the show and that we care nothing about, will suddenly be the main focus and co-lead of the show and take us through to the end. They will go on the run and it will be the Dexter/Hannah show for the final two seasons...
That will be what viewers want to see and the writers want to write. Because at this point in the game it makes perfect sense to sideline the best character next to Dex, who has shared his entire life, and re-invest all artistic and emotional energy in a whole new version of Lumen/Lila.
It makes perfect sense to me!
Z
Wow Z, learn to read...I even wrote the focus of the show is firmly on Dexter, so you didn't have to go all douchebaggy on me.
DeleteSo those promotional photos from episode 3 were wrong then? And they didn't say she started working few days before CC, just that she has been on set several days so far, which can also mean she will have just few scenes here and there in episodes 3/4 (probably be introduced at the end of 3).
Also I'm sure Deb will play important role this season, but I doubt the focus will be on Dex/Deb whole season. The story of the season (or the last 2, since from what I read the last two seasons represent one big story) could very well be about fight for Dexter soul, with Deb playing the role of angel influence and Hannah the role of devil influence or something along those lines.
4:25
DeleteYou are right, I saw the promo photo's from episode 5 and she said she had just started. Yet now I see a still from episode 3 - which was before we even knew she was cast. Sneaky - either that or the photo is mislabeled.
In any case - if Hannah is more of a factor than Deb this season I will be more than sarcastic in comments. I will throw a brick through my TV. I am just not interested in another sidekick blonde for Dexter - been there, done that- ate the sandwich and bought the fucking T-shirt and the lithographed coffee mug.
Z
And yet again you are mistaken. Episode 3 was shot from 16 June, while YS being casted was announced 12th June. So it's very likely she will be part of episode 3. (Also she said, she hasn't been working all that much so far, at the time they just started shooting episode 5, not that she just started shooting).
DeleteAnd frankly while I liked the first 5 seasons and didn't care at all about season 6 and when they went to Debra has romantic feelings for Dexter, I was ready to drop the show, I hated it.
Only after Ray Stevenson (who I loved in Rome) and Yvonne Strahovski (who was great in Chuck) were casted I again gain some interest in series.
P.S. You will be the only one at loss if you break your TV ;).
12: 27. SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP JUST SHUT UP!!!!
DeleteIt's my theory that Hannah is related to the mobsters in some way, and that she is a bad guy and not a new love interest.
DeleteZ
No I won't, but someone forgot to take his medication.
Deletethat was a reference and you missed it. anyway this is not the time or the place, i'm outta here, fool.
DeletePatrick, not everyone watches Breaking Bad, just most of us! :)
DeleteBTW, loved the Scarface reference... I guess we know now how Walt is going down, right?
Z
No, not everyone watches that show, but that just made your comments worse. At least then it was an good excuse that you were off your medication, not you just came off like a rude asshole.
DeleteAlso, there was TCA Dexter panel today, where they spoke a lot about the show and also that was mentioned:
