Variety’s 11th annual “A Night in the Writers’ Room” took place on June 9, in-person and virtually, with a unique livestream experience moderated by Variety journalists. The event will featured three panels with this year’s Emmy-contending writers in the drama, comedy and limited series categories. Executive producer and showrunner of Dexter: New Blood was there too, and talked about the decision the writers made for the final episode. Watch the video below!

"We need to redeem ourselves, famously" Clyde said.

"We determined what the ending was going to be first. And basically you put your nose against the ending on that wall, and you walk backwards, and figuratively if it's "The Shining", all the doors are next to you, and behind each door are the episodes. So we could just build it and it will be solid. That doesn't mean it doesn't change in the writing process, but once we knew what the ending was, we walk backwards from it, and we walk forward to get there".
