  5. The question about MCH's worse lie was pretty awkward. Just look at Jennifer's face. And poor Yvonne. There wasn't any question for her?

  6. lmao at MCH's answer to the worst lie....Jennifer clearly did not find that funny. But I love his "fuck it" shrug afterwards.

And I always feel bad for the guest stars at these things. It's hard to come up with questions to ask them when you haven't yet seen how their character impacts the season, the other characters, the overall storyline...

She's awkward in almost any situation where she is put on the spot, or feels she has to prove something. Haven't you noticed? She strikes me as a strong ESFJ personality type, and ESFJ's need strong approval to really function well - since most of the adoration in these situations is always directed at Michael, she probably feels off and out of sync.

I've watched all her interviews and she is always best when someone is being very kind and supportive of her, she just comes to life and you can see her shine, but whenever someone is being cagey or smarmy, or she is worried about how she is being perceived - she tends to get nervous and quickly pops out of sync.

It's not unusual - but can be a bit worrisome because I have seen that same trait in other actors/actresses - notably Heath Ledger and Megan Fox.

    2. PS - Playing soothsayer is not my normal gig, and it feels asinine... but what I am saying is that usually specific behavior has to do with personality and not with some incident or motivator.

  9. No question on somewhat "meh" reaction on last season from most critics and large number of fans...(not just about the love thing, whole quality of acting and storytelling last year was very questionable). No one has the balls to ask...

    1. Pretty damn easy 6:47

Because it's a lot easier to sit behind a computer screen and whine and cry and act like a condescending prick when everything is not perfect, than it is to stare an artist in the face and rip them down and look like a total jackass in front of thousands.

    2. It's not about some cheap shots, and by the bay I enjoyed last season somewhat more than the fifth, but unlike any other season I don't plan to rewatch it even before premiere.
But there is no denying that many sources consider last season the weakest.
Question could be asked like, "What can you take from negative reaction of some critics on last season?

      Many sources?

As far as genuine critics? Sepinwall is the only "genuine" TV critic that I read that was disappointed in 6, but really, he's been checked out since somewhere around S3 because he felt the show was "repetitive" - and he's right, it has been. On the other hand his taste is entirely subjective, as he enjoyed the last Season of Lost and the last season of Chuck, which makes me think "Huh?"

In any case, many of the top TV critics where never huge Dexter fans to begin with.

All of the trouble with Dexter comes about because of an aging show, and because they did not pull the trigger on all the complicated aspects of Deb/Dex sooner. S6 was a "correction of course" and to me it was a very fine season, aside from some of the most dismal acting from a big bad (Colin Hanks) that I have ever seen on a cable show.

Watch any season of other hit shows like "Boardwalk Empire" or "True Blood" or "Walking Dead" - all are fun, but really, they are so genre orientated that they fall into cliche's quickly, and wow, do they get campy, especially True Blood and Walking Dead - sheesh

Not a single season of those shows are as a good as the worst season of Dexter. In fact, there are only 3 shows on television that are in Dexter's league - Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men....

And yes, two of those shows had better seasons than Dexter last year but neither were in Season 6, and Mad Men feels SO old in S5, that it that it seems like it is actually a season ahead of Dexter instead of behind. Dexter and Mad Men are getting gray hair, both shows have "aged" and have worn thin in some ways. Inevitable... just as the actors themselves have aged.

Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad have two distinct advantages, #1 GoT is a direct adaptation, #2 Breaking Bad is SO serialized that has a little more shelf life, albeit, it just hit episode 47 at the beginning of 5... Personally I thought it had worn thin in Season 4 - which really lagged pointlessly until "Shotgun" and truly did not hit the level it had been running in S3 until "Hermanos" and then of course, it really nailed it's landing.

Episode 47 of Dexter, BTW, was "Hello Dexter Morgan".

Dexter started S5 with a new show runner, and missing nearly half of it's key writing staff, including the writer most responsible for the "thriller' aspect of the show (MR), and then the show runner of 5 left again, and even more writers turned over.

That left the remaining staff with a crapload of work and on top of all of that, Michael C Hall had his contract dispute!!! Basically season 6 was about Buck, Gussis, Schlattman and Reynolds, trying to bail water out of the boat and bring new writers up to speed.

I have NEVER in my life seen a show make it through those kind of circumstances, and those writers deserve a fucking medal for what they tried to pull off when they could have just mailed it in. S6 of Dexter was a bit messy, but it was a snake shedding it's skin, and that's always a messy business.

I am going to judge this crew by S7, that will tell us what's left in the tank, and who these writers/producers really are.

  10. Once again, showing your incredible intelligence, the audience is instructed and asked their question beforehand by the people manning the mics, and, just in case it got by you, and so much does, these are edited. A couple of hours into a few minutes. Jeez. And yes, I would gladly say this to your face.

    "Once again?" and "incredible intelligence"

Hmmmm... I just sense this seething jealousy and resentment here. What's up with that?

I've missed nothing. They've always been that way from the earliest panels. That's part of the way comic con works... even when you have a completely adoring audience (like the very memorable Farscape panel I saw), they still screen question. But even in more open forums, I have always found that fans in person behave, they do NOT take shots at the actors and producers face to face - and generally the fans who put in the effort to show up at these, are very positive about the show, even when they have been REALLY upset about the storylines.

Did you hear boo's and catcalls? I did not. People were excited and happy to be there.

On the internet, well, it's just the internet. Poor behavior, poor manners, - everyone feels entitled to vent their spleen and flame and be horrendous to their fellow human beings. I don't understand it at all.

Also 6:06 - you can stop with the pseudo threats. "Yea I'd tell you how it is, I'm so badass" - ugh, really? You went way off topic there, I was talking about the way you treat actors, not your fellow fans, but yea, I've no reason to question your word that you would be a jerk out here in the real world. If you say so, then, hey, you must be some sort of tough guy I guess. I think it's been several decades since someone has been in my face being a jackass. I am lucky because for most of my life, people treat me with kindness and respect, maybe I've just been lucky in that I generally attract nice people to my sphere of influence.

Anyway: Life is too short of fill yourself up with bile and resentment and to be a jagoff to other people. We are here and then we are dead in a blink of an eye. What do you leave behind? A bunch of insulting posts on the internet, a legacy of ranting and raving because a television show did not go the way you fantasized? Are you out there in the real world flipping people shit and "saying" stuff of their face?

What was that Harry said? "A bully is a felony waiting to happen..."

    As for the show:

If you love it be a fan.

If you hate it walk away.
