The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is set to put our favorite antihero in some intriguing situations. Even though a major time jump has been confirmed, it looks like Dexter's past will continue to follow him, to the point that one returning character is set to have a "profound effect" on Dexter himself.

Those actually are the exact two words executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds used during the Dexter: Resurrection panel at New York Comic Con 2026 on October 8. But which returning character was Reynolds referring to? Is it Quinn, Masuka, or someone more recent?

The answer is none other than Mia Lapierre, aka Lady Vengeance, who has been confirmed to return in Season 2 for some time now. While the exact nature of her comeback has not been fully revealed, what Reynolds said about her return is certainly interesting and could be a major clue about how the season will unfold.

Scott Reynolds Teases Lady Vengeance's Return

At one point during the panel, moderator Josh Horowitz tried to get Krysten Ritter, who was there alongside her fellow Dexter: Resurrection cast members, to share something interesting about her return as Lady Vengeance.

Ritter was actually having a hard time giving a proper answer to Horowitz's questions, seemingly worried that she might reveal something she was not supposed to.

That's when the moderator turned to Scott Reynolds, who, of course, has had a friendship with Ritter spanning more than 10 years. Speaking almost on behalf of the actress, the executive producer and writer revealed this about her return this season:

"She has a profound effect upon Dexter. I think that is something that is very very true and very exciting this season."

What Does Lady Vengeance's "Profound Effect" Actually Mean for Dexter?

How a character like Lady Vengeance, who spent only a few days with Dexter Morgan in Season 1, will have such a significant impact on him in Season 2 remains to be seen. However, Reynolds' choice of words definitely makes us wonder what is in store for the two characters.

It all depends on the nature of Mia Lapierre's return and how she will deal with the truth that Dexter is the real Bay Harbor Butcher, rather than Ronald Schmidt, the identity he used when he introduced himself to her in Season 1 while infiltrating Leon Prater's serial killer club.

Could this "profound effect" be connected to the truth finally coming out about Mia being framed for Harrison's murder of Ryan Foster? Or will that secret remain buried, while Dexter and Mia instead develop a more meaningful, and possibly even... romantic, relationship?

Honestly, at this point, everything is possible. But Reynolds' specific use of the phrase "profound effect" definitely makes Lady Vengeance's return one of the more intriguing storylines to watch in the second season.

What do you think Reynolds meant by those two words about Lady Vengeance's comeback? Let us know in the comments!
