The one who got away is back, Dexter fans. Eric Stonestreet is set to reprise his role as the notorious serial killer Al Walker, better known as Rapunzel, in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. What many fans have been suspecting for months is now officially confirmed, and honestly, it is surprising that the return wasn't announced at some point during the past few months.
The revelation came during the Dexter: Resurrection panel at New York City Comic Con on October 8. Stonestreet was the secret seventh actor scheduled to appear on the panel and joined the rest of the cast approximately 15 minutes after the panel began, after showrunner Clyde Phillips announced his arrival.
He then took the empty chair next to Krysten Ritter, making it obvious that this was the team's way of officially revealing his return for Season 2.
In Season 1, Rapunzel actually came very close to facing Dexter's justice, but escaped at the last moment, much to Dexter's frustration. That made him one of the very few serial killers to avoid Dexter's kill table.
Well, it looks like that may be about to change in Season 2.
Why Episode 1 Sets Up Dexter’s Biggest Unfinished Business
The panel also revealed which episode Al Walker will appear in during the second season. It is none other than Episode 1, meaning the show will actually waste no time at all revisiting the loose end involving one of its most dangerous killers.
Rapunzel has managed to keep his deadly passion hidden behind his family life, which makes his return even more interesting. Now, Dexter is going to have another chance to deal with the serial killer who slipped away from him.
Scott Reynolds Teases a Season 2 Premiere Scene
Another interesting moment from the panel came when executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds shared a few words about a scene featuring Al in the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premiere.
"There's a moment in the first episode where Al (Rapunzel) is hanging out with his kids and his wife and they're discussing what they're going to have for dinner, and then a woman goes jogging by with a big beautiful ponytail and that turn that [Al] made."
Reynolds also revealed that the team watched the specific scene together in Video Village after it was filmed, and everyone involved in the production was stunned by the moment.
So, there we go! The big question is what happens to him this time. Will Dexter finally finish what he started in Season 1, or... is this another story that will leave some unfinished business behind for the future?
