Brian Cox Officially Joins Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 as the New York Ripper

It is happening, Dexter fans! Brian Cox is the first new casting addition to the second season of Dexter: Resurrection.

Breaking news: The first casting announcement for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection has arrived, and Brian Cox, best known for his role in Succession, is officially joining the cast. Even more exciting, he’s set to portray the New York Ripper, the mysterious villain whose identity has remained under wraps for months.

According to Deadline, Cox is set to appear as a series regular in the upcoming second season. That means his name will be featured alongside the main cast in the opening credits, similar to how Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage were actually introduced in Season 1.

The groundwork for this reveal was definitely laid in the Season 1 finale of Dexter: Resurrection, when Dexter, and later Detective Claudette Wallace, uncovered a file on Don Framt inside Leon Prater’s vault. That moment now appears to have been a huge setup for what’s probably shaping up to be a significant storyline in Season 2.

Cox’s casting as the infamous New York Ripper also puts an end to months of speculation from the fans. Throughout Season 1, viewers shared multiple theories about the killer’s identity, with mostly all the new characters being potential suspects. More recently, rumors pointed to Bryan Cranston as a possible choice for the role after online buzz and teasing actually fueled the idea, but now, the mystery is officially solved.
