The band recently revealed on Instagram that a brand-new single will be released soon.
Michael C. Hall has been incredibly busy over the past few weeks, honestly, even months. He’s actually been involved in the early preparations for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, while also filming Stratagem, an upcoming movie where he takes on a leading role.
On top of that, Hall is back in music mode. Alongside his bandmates Peter Yanowitz and Matt Katz-Bohen, he’s currently working on a brand-new Princess Goes album, expected to drop sometime in 2026.
A few days ago, the band shared on Instagram that their new single, titled “Stranger,” will be released on May 15 across all major streaming platforms. This upcoming project will actually mark their fourth album overall.
For those unfamiliar with their sound, Princess Goes (formerly known as Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum) mixes Hall’s theatrical style with indie-elecrtonic and experimental rock. The trio first came together while working on the Broadway production Hedwig and the Angry Inch in the mid 2010s.
The group features Hall on vocals, with Katz-Bohen (known for his work with Blondie) and Yanowitz (from The Wallflowers and Morningwood) completing the lineup. Their sound leans mostly on synths and atmospheric layers, while still experimenting across many genres.
So far, the band has released an EP in 2020, followed by the albums Thanks for Coming in 2021 and Come of Age in 2023, the latter also marking the point where they decided to shorten their name.
Of course, the timing of this new album is actually far from random. With a new season of Dexter on the horizon, it’s very likely the album will arrive around the same time as Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, which could give the band a big boost in visibility.
And based on what we have learned from recent seasons of Dexter, there is a big chance we might hear one of their songs featured again in the show itself, especially since that’s already happened before twice, both in Dexter: New Blood in 2021 and in Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 in 2025.
