Michael C. Hall Announces Brand-New Album Coming in 2026

The new year is already shaping up to be an incredibly busy one for Michael C. Hall.

As 2025 officially came to a close, and just hours before stepping into the new year, Michael C. Hall surprised fans with a music-related announcement. Through the official Instagram account of his band, Princess Goes, Hall revealed that a brand-new full-length record is currently in the works and scheduled for release sometime in 2026, adding yet another major project to his already packed slate.

The announcement arrives at a particularly busy moment for Hall. Preparations are underway not only for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, which is set to begin production on April 13 in New York City, but also for a new film role he recently landed. Marking his first movie project in several years, the film is expected to enter production within days, further proving just how active this period has become for the actor and musician.

Princess Goes is the indie band fronted by Michael C. Hall, formed in his hometown New York City in 2018. The group came together after Hall connected musically with keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen, from Blondie, and drummer Peter Yanowitz, who has played with The Wallflowers and Morningwood. What began as a creative collaboration actually evolved into a fully realized band with a distinct identity.

Originally called Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum, they soon gained attention for their atmospheric, genre-blending style, that was built around synth-heavy arranegments, electronic rhythms, and also art-rock influences.

The band released a self-titled EP in 2020, followed by their debut album Thanks for Coming in 2021, which helped establish Princess Goes as a serious musical act rather than...a novelty. In 2023, they followed up with Come of Age and officially shortened their name to Princess Goes, signaling a more confident and focused era for the group.

Even now, many Dexter fans actually remain unaware that Michael C. Hall is also an accomplished singer with an active band. Notably, one Princess Goes song was featured in Dexter: New Blood in 2021, appearing during the end credits of an episode. More recently, their music has also been used in the ending credits of Dexter: Resurrection's fifth episode of Season 1, further tying Hall’s musical work to the franchise that made him a more popular.

With Dexter: Resurrection continuing to grow in popularity, there is hope within the band that increased exposure will help introduce Princess Goes to a wider audience. The upcoming album, set for release in 2026, could benefit greatly from this momentum and finally give the band the broader recognition many feel it deserves.

All signs point to htis new year being an especially busy and exciting year for Michael C. Hall, both on screen and in music. And while the payoff may come in 2026, it is clear that the groundwork for it all was laid throughout 2025.
