Golden Globes 2026 Shock: ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ and Its Cast Left Out of Every Category

One of 2025’s top-rated shows ends up with zero Golden Globe nominations.

There are moments when you’re watching a show or a film and everything clicks so perfectly, whether it’s the writing or the performances, that you just know awards attention is coming. Dexter: Resurrection’s first season has been one of those rare cases, a series so confident and sharply acted that nominations felt almost inevitable. Yet somehow, the people responsible for recognizing the year’s best work seem determined to pretend it doesn’t actually exist.

The 2026 awards race officially kicked off today with the announcement of the 83rd Golden Globe nominations, and to the shock of many fans, Dexter: Resurrection was completely shut out. Not a single category acknowledged the show or any member of its cast, despite the season’s overwhelming praise.

The group overseeing Golden Globe voting, which is a mix of HFPA successors and long-time entertainment journalists, actually made it clear they weren’t giving Dexter: Resurrection a seat at the table. And that decision feels especially baffling when you consider the show’s status as one of the highest-rated TV dramas of 2025 and the universally praised performances.

Michael C. Hall delivered what many consider his strongest work as Dexter Morgan in years, yet the Best Male Actor in a Drama category went to Sterling K. Brown for “Paradise,” Diego Luna for “Andor,” Gary Oldman for “Slow Horses,” Mark Ruffalo for “Task,” Adam Scott for “Severance,” and Noah Wyle for “The Pitt.”

Uma Thurman, who brought an intense and layered performance throughout the season, was overlooked in the Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role category. Instead, three stars from HBO’s “The White Lotus” (Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, and Aimee Lou Wood) made the list, joined by Erin Doherty for “Adolescence,” Hannah Einbinder for “Hacks,” and Catherine O'Hara for “The Studio.”

In Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role, neither Jack Alcott’s amazing work as Harrison Morgan nor David Zayas’s career best turn as Batista earned spots. Peter Dinklage’s stellar job as Leon Prater met the same outcome, despite the strong impact he had throughout the season. That category instead went to Owen Cooper for “Adolescence,” Billy Crudup for “The Morning Show,” Walton Goggins and Jason Isaacs for “The White Lotus,” Tramell Tillman for “Severance,” and Ashley Walters for “Adolescence.”

And in the big one, Best Drama Series, Dexter: Resurrection was pushed aside for The Diplomat, The Pitt, Pluribus, Severance, Slow Horses, and The White Lotus.

Seeing the series snubbed again is very frustrating, especially because it genuinely earned a place among these nominees. This marks its second major shutout in less than a week, following the Critics Choice Awards. Whether this is only an oversight or just something tied to Paramount+ is not clear, but the pattern is actually too hard to ignore.
