Desmond Harrington Teases a ‘Curious’ Quinn Comeback in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

With Batista out of the picture, could Quinn step into a bigger role in Season 2? The actor opens up about it.

The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is officially in the works, and with Paramount+ confirming the renewal just a few days ago, it’s now clear that the network is committed to expanding the franchise beyond just one comeback season. The revival has successfully reignited fans’ passion, and it seems there’s much more stories to tell.

Now that Season 2 is confirmed and the writers’ room is officially open, fans have been speculating about where the story will go next and which familiar faces could be returning. One name that keeps coming up again and again is Joey Quinn, played by Desmond Harrington.

Quinn, who now holds the rank of Lieutenant at Miami Metro, made two physical appearances in Dexter: Resurrection’s first season in Episodes 3 and 8, along with a third via a voice cameo in Episode 10. His presence, though brief, carried weight, especially considering his close connection to Angel Batista, who was killed by Leon Prater in the penultimate episode.

With Quinn already aware of Batista’s whereabouts in New York, all signs point to his character having a much stronger presence in Season 2 as he could dig deeper into the mystery surrounding his former partner’s death.

During the recent Dexter panel at Scaradise, Desmond Harrington joined co-stars Erik King, David Zayas, Jennifer Carpenter, and Julie Benz to discuss the series’ future among others. When asked directly about his possible return for Season 2, Harrington gave an intriguing response:

“You never really know if you’re coming back until the writers’ room opens and things start moving. But I can say this — Joey Quinn is a character I care deeply about. Batista was his partner, and now he’s gone. That’s definitely something Quinn would want to look into. It would be too easy to have him just jump right into it, though. To keep things interesting, I’m curious to see how the writers would approach that. But yeah, I think Quinn would definitely be very curious about what really happened.”

While Harrington tried to play it coy, his comments suggest that Quinn’s curiosity about Batista’s murder, and Leon Prater’s motives, could play a major role in the new season. Whether Quinn heads to New York or remains in Miami, it’s safe to assume he and Miami Metro won’t let Batista’s death go unanswered.

The Dexter: Resurrection writers’ room has only been open for a week, but based on Harrington’s comments, it sounds like he’ll soon know, if he doesn’t already, what’s next for Joey Quinn.

In truth, Harrington’s return is a no-brainer. Given Quinn’s history with Batista and his emotional ties to the case, his involvement in Season 2 feels essential. And if the hints are anything to go by, Quinn may be stepping into the spotlight once again when Dexter: Resurrection returns.
