Other cast members of Dexter: Resurrection also discussed several of the show’s most pivotal scenes.
It’s been two weeks since the highly anticipated Dexter: Resurrection panel took place at San Diego Comic-Con, yet fresh videos from various pre-panel interviews keep surfacing online. Surprisingly, the full main panel from Ballroom 20 is still nowhere to be found on YouTube — fans are eagerly awaiting its release.
Among these newly released interviews, one standout conversation took place at Fandom’s SDCC studio, featuring the Dexter: Resurrection cast split into two groups. The first included Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, and James Remar — three generations of Morgans — while the second brought together Krysten Ritter alongside David Zayas and David Dastmalchian.
The actors opened up with fascinating behind-the-scenes insights that any Dexter fan would love to hear. But it was Krysten Ritter, who plays Mia Lapierre (aka Lady Vengeance), who stole the show by sharing a heartwarming story about meeting Peter Dinklage and revealing her deep love for Game of Thrones. Spoiler: His reaction was totally unexpected.
Note: The interviews have been refined for clearer articulation.
Jack Alcott on Filming the Intense Kill Scene in Episode 1
Jack Alcott, reprising his role as Harrison Morgan, got candid about one of the show’s most intense moments — a brutal kill scene involving a toilet lid. When asked if he anticipated going so hard with the prop, Jack shared:
“You do a scene that’s this physical, and the stakes and energy are so high, it really feeds off you. Even with Brian Willis — fantastic stunt actor who doubled for me — there’s still punches flying, and it doesn’t feel good. You’re fully in it, which naturally amps the aggression. That toilet tank was breakable, but we only had two of them. The first time I swung it, it completely vaporized — nothing left! It was made of sand, and everyone was like, ‘Don’t swing so hard!’ Because in the script, it just breaks in half. The second take — which made it into the episode — I had to hold back but it still shattered. The plaster flying across the floor looked so satisfying on camera. It was an awesome moment.”
Krysten Ritter’s Unexpected Game of Thrones Fandom and Fan Encounter with Peter Dinklage
When asked if her character is a wine sommelier and whether she shares that passion in real life, Krysten took it further — revealing a surprising fandom that many didn’t know about:
“I’m kind of an expert on Game of Thrones. I could totally win a trivia contest. And beyond that, I get really deep into hobbies like knitting and crochet. I have my own line of knitting kits! People would be like, ‘Who is this?’ because I have so much stuff and ideas that I need extra storage just for all my projects. I get pretty nerdy about some things.”
Her co-star David Dastmalchian, clearly surprised by her Game of Thrones passion, asked what it was like meeting Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister for eight seasons on the HBO megahit. Krysten shared a hilarious fan moment from the Dexter set:
“I have to tell you about this interaction — there’s a play on something within my son’s middle name, which is inspired by Game of Thrones. I told Peter about it, and his response was like, ‘Oh, you’re... you’re a loser.’ It was such a funny and genuine moment.”
David Zayas on Reuniting with Michael C. Hall in Dexter: Resurrection
Zayas also reflected on the dynamic reunion between Batista and Dexter in episode one:
“I wasn’t sure how it would go at first, but since I’ve worked with Michael for so long, it felt natural falling into the characters again. The writing was fantastic, which made the whole experience feel like candy for us. Marcos Siega’s direction was coordinated and lovely — intense but really well done. We were able to create a scene that fans will really enjoy.”
