Spoiler Alert! Breakdown of Dexter: Resurrection Episode 7 – “Course Correction”

Surprise, hermano. Dexter: Resurrection is back with another electrifying episode, and this one packs some of the most shocking and unforgettable moments of the season so far. If there was any doubt before, it’s now official: this new chapter in the Dexter saga is wildly unpredictable.

Following directly on the heels of last week’s cliffhanger, Episode 7, Course Correction, delivers a tense mix of psychological games, jaw-dropping twists, and character-defining confrontations. Let’s dive deep into the key moments, hidden details, and what they could mean for the rest of the season.

A Dark Retreat with Deadly Secrets

Clocking in at 53 minutes — a bit shorter than the previous installment — Course Correction first half hour unfolds at Leon Prater’s secluded retreat just outside New York City. The setting is lavish but mysterious: a “show and tell” gathering of serial killers, held not long after the death of Mia Lapierre.

From the episode promo, many fans expected Dexter’s true identity to be unmasked during this retreat. But the writers pulled a classic misdirection — the big reveal didn’t happen… yet.

The Disturbing “Show and Tell”

One of the creepiest sequences of the season comes when Al Jolly (Eric Stonestreet) reveals his killing method to the group. He doesn’t just describe it — he’s recorded it, forcing everyone to watch his twisted ritual. Dexter is visibly appalled, and it’s clear Jolly has now earned himself a spot on Dexter’s kill table.

When it’s Dexter’s turn to “share,” he channels his inner Dark Passenger while staying in disguise as Ronald Schmidt. Drawing on details he’s learned while impersonating Schmidt, he delivers a disturbingly insightful but also funny account of “his” darkness — enough to impress even Leon Prater.

Big Twist: The Second Gareth Twin is Also Dead

In one of the season’s most surprising moments, Dexter confronts Gareth’s twin brother while the two are alone in Prater’s gardens. What we thought might be a season-long revenge arc turns into a swift, calculated kill — staged to look like self-defense. In true Dexter fashion, he walks away clean… at least for now.

Harrison’s New Path

Meanwhile, Harrison begins contemplating his own future — and shockingly, it might be in law enforcement. Inspired by his grandfather and Aunt Deb, he enrolls at fictional Collings Criminology College in Manhattan, where he meets a new character: Gigi. This subplot hints at an intriguing internal conflict for Harrison as he continues navigating his identity and morality.

The Claudette Wallace Collision

In a tense, almost coincidental encounter, Detective Claudette Wallace — who previously suspected Harrison in the murder of Ryan Foster — crosses paths with him at the college amphitheater. Her surprise turns to suspicion when she sees Harrison with Dexter.

Wallace has heard plenty about Dexter from none other than Angel Batista, but Dexter deflects suspicion with a bold lie, claiming Batista is just an obsessed man peddling conspiracy theories about him being the Bay Harbor Butcher.

The Long-Awaited Dexter vs. Batista Confrontation

Fans have been anticipating this for weeks, and Course Correction delivers. What starts as a fake-friendly reunion between former colleagues at Blessing's house, quickly turns raw and hostile during a nighttime drive through New York City. Both men know the truth about each other — what’s missing is hard evidence.

In a clever (and impulsive) move born from their heated exchange, Batista “accidentally” leaves his AirPods case in Dexter’s car, then immediately uses his phone to track its location. This signals that Batista is now actively tailing Dexter, desperate to finally bring the Bay Harbor Butcher to justice.

Fan Reactions: Did “Course Correction” Deliver?

From shocking kills to long-awaited confrontations, Episode 7 gave fans plenty to talk about. While it’s bittersweet to see the Dexter–Batista friendship reach a point of no return, the tension is more electric than ever.

Was Course Correction your favorite episode of the season so far? Which moment had you on the edge of your seat? And where do you think the story will go next?
