Dexter: Resurrection’s 'Post Mortem' featurette for Episode 8 is here.
The adventures of Dexter Morgan in New York City continue to keep fans on the edge of their seats. With each new episode of Dexter: Resurrection, our favorite antihero crosses paths with intriguing new figures—many of whom share the same darkness that drives him.
Among the most fascinating additions this season are Leon Prater (played by Peter Dinklage) and Charley Brown (Uma Thurman). Prater is a billionaire with an unsettling obsession with serial killers, while Charley serves as his fiercely capable right hand—the fixer who cleans up his messes and gets paid handsomely for it. Yet beneath her cool exterior, Charley’s moral discomfort with the work is beginning to crack through.
Trouble Between Prater and Charley
Starting in Episode 5, subtle rifts in their partnership became apparent. Charley doesn’t enjoy her role, nor does she approve of Prater’s twisted fascination with killers. Still, the life-changing wealth and power that come with her job have kept her tethered to him—at least until now.
In Episode 8, “The Kill Room Where It Happens,” their relationship nearly unravels. Charley uncovers disturbing information about “Red” and grows increasingly wary of her boss. For the first time, it feels like her loyalty is on the line.
Peter Dinklage reflected on Prater’s behavior in the opening of the episode, explaining:
“A lot of people don’t want to hear the truth. They respond negatively to what they already know to maybe be true, and that’s, I think, what’s going on here. He obviously trusts Charley, but Charley’s also being a bit of a Debbie Downer.”
He also touched on the growing tension between the two, especially after Charley’s suspicions about Gareth’s death prove valid:
“Prater is extremely egotistical as a boss, so he continues to say, ‘we’re done.’ It was Gareth. And Charley won’t let it go. So he gets very frustrated by that. I’ve said no. Stop. And she keeps doing it. That’ll frustrate anybody.”
Uma Thurman on Charley’s Inner Struggle
Uma Thurman offered her own insight into Charley’s arc, teasing what might lie ahead for her character:
“I think what we’re starting to understand is that Charley found herself in a very cushy job that turns out to be a really weird job. And she sort of, for various personal reasons, has to cope with it. Over the course of the season, you see how that weighs on her.”
Her words suggest that Charley may be approaching a pivotal crossroads—one that could permanently shift her relationship with Prater, and perhaps even intersect with Dexter’s own dangerous path.
A Lighter Featurette – What Every Kill Room Needs
Unlike earlier featurettes that leaned heavily into spoilers and major reveals, the latest Dexter Post Mortem video takes a lighter approach. This time, Michael C. Hall, David Zayas, and Jack Alcott were asked to name the five essential things every kill room needs—a cheeky nod to one of Dexter Morgan’s most chilling trademarks.
