Dexter: Resurrection – C.S. Lee May Have Teased Masuka’s Return, and Fans Are Buzzing

The actor hinted at Masuka's comeback, but is it really what it seems?

This past weekend was nothing short of thrilling for Dexter fans. Not only did we finally get the highly anticipated premiere of Dexter: Resurrection, but another major surprise followed: a fan-favorite actor from the original series officially confirmed his return — and it’s happening very soon.

We’re talking about Desmond Harrington, who portrayed the tough but beloved Detective Joey Quinn in the original Dexter series. After months of speculation and hints earlier this year, Harrington has now confirmed that he’s returning to the franchise. While he won’t be joining the main cast like David Zayas’ Angel Batista, he will appear as a guest star, sparking a wave of speculation across the Dexter fandom. How many episodes will Quinn appear in? What role will he play in the unfolding story?

Harrington’s announcement came via Instagram and was immediately followed by a fleeting, yet unmistakable, shot of him as Quinn in the Episode 3 and beyond promo for Dexter: Resurrection. The promo features a montage of future scenes, and his brief appearance was enough to send the fanbase into a frenzy.

But the surprises didn’t stop there.

Just minutes later, C.S. Lee, known for his unforgettable portrayal of Vince Masuka, posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story:

“Masukarection soon…”

Naturally, fans lost it. The playful blend of “Masuka” and “Resurrection” quickly ignited rumors that Lee was teasing his own return to the franchise. Social media lit up with speculation, and Dexter forums were flooded with theories.

One Dexter Daily follower, DrakoAfoa, posted in a fan community on X:

“C.S. Lee that plays Vince Masuka in the original series of Dexter has confirmed that he’ll make his return in the show SOON!”

Excitement spread like wildfire, but is this really a confirmation?

It’s very possible that C.S. Lee is teasing something else entirely. He previously coined the term “Masukarection” during his appearance on Dexter: Final Cut, the official after-show hosted by Jamie Chung. Lee could simply be hinting at another guest appearance on that program, rather than in the series itself.

It’s also important to remember that actors are usually bound by strict NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) when it comes to unannounced roles. They can’t reveal anything about a surprise appearance unless the network gives them the green light — as was the case with Harrington, whose return was officially sanctioned.

So, will Masuka return in Dexter: Resurrection? We’ll find out soon. But while it’s okay to be hopeful, it’s wise to temper expectations — for now.

As we mentioned in a previous article, Desmond Harrington’s return was relatively easy to arrange, since he lives in New York City and most of the Miami scenes for Resurrection were actually filmed there. C.S. Lee, on the other hand, resides in Los Angeles, making a quick cameo a bit trickier logistically — though not impossible.

Whether it’s a guest role or just a fun tease, one thing is certain: Dexter: Resurrection is already delivering big surprises — and we’re just getting started.
