Krysten Ritter Hints at Dexter: Resurrection Spinoff Starring Her ‘Lady Vengeance’ Character

The actress expresses a strong interest in Mia Lapierre getting her own Dexter series.

Episode 4 of Dexter: Resurrection is just around the corner, and with it comes the long-anticipated debut of several high-profile stars joining the franchise. One of the most exciting additions is none other than Krysten Ritter, known for her standout performances as Jessica Jones in the Marvel universe and as Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad.

Ritter officially joined the Dexter: Resurrection cast in February and began filming shortly thereafter, diving headfirst into this darkly compelling world.

Ritter’s casting has generated major buzz across the Dexter fandom—and for good reason. Her ability to balance fierce intensity with emotional complexity makes her a perfect fit for the series’ twisted universe. In a recent interview with Carissa Pavlika from TV Fanatic, Ritter opened up about how her role came to be and what it means to her personally.

She revealed that longtime Dexter writer and executive producer Scott Reynolds, who had worked closely with her on Jessica Jones, crafted the role specifically with her in mind. Ritter described the experience as “pure candy,” explaining that the character—Mia Lapierre, also known as Lady Vengeance—allowed her to explore layers of glamor, psychosis, and playfulness all at once.

“It’s so delicious. We all got to really sink our teeth into these really unique roles,” she said, smiling as she described Mia as “fabulous, glamorous, a little playful and psychotic and deranged—all the words that I love.”

Despite juggling multiple commitments—including the launch of her new book and her return as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again—Ritter said the Dexter: Resurrection script was simply too good to turn down.

“After reading the scripts, it was like, we have to do whatever it takes to make this happen.”

The excitement around Ritter’s performance is already building momentum. During the press interview for Dexter: Resurrection, Ritter appeared alongside fellow cast members David Dastmalchian (Gareth) and Eric Stonestreet (Al). When asked what they hoped audiences would take away from their characters, Ritter enthusiastically shared a bold hope: that her character Mia as well as the characters Gareth and Al, might earn a spinoff series of their own.

“I’m hoping audiences are like, ‘Give each of these characters a spinoff!’” she said with a laugh. “They’re all really exciting, fresh, and original. We had such a blast playing them, and they feel iconic in this wild and twisted world.”

Dastmalchian echoed her sentiments, praising Ritter’s performance as “stunning and glamorous” and adding that each of their characters brings something distinct and compelling to the Dexter universe.

“It all fits within this brilliant world, but still feels new,” he said, referring to his own role as a delightfully creepy weirdo and Stonestreet’s character, Al, who he described as “a Midwest family man caught in a situational comedy—except there are dead bodies piling up.”

Interestingly, back in May, Dexter Daily speculated about the possibility of a Lady Vengeance spinoff. While nothing is confirmed, the pieces seem to be in place. With Ritter’s close working relationship with Scott Reynolds and the massive fan interest she generates, a continuation of Mia’s story beyond Dexter: Resurrection feels more than plausible. Ultimately, it will come down to Paramount’s decision and how fans respond to her character in the weeks ahead.

In the meantime, Ritter continues to dominate across genres. She has officially reprises her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again, which is currently filming in New York City. Balancing Marvel’s gritty streets with Dexter’s blood-soaked darkness, Krysten Ritter is having a moment—and it’s one that fans of both franchises won’t want to miss.
