New ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Cast Share Why They’re Thrilled to Join the Dexter-Verse

Seven new regular and guest stars reveal why they're excited to join the Dexter sequel.

Over its original eight-season run from 2006 to 2013, Dexter built a reputation not only for its gripping storytelling and unforgettable lead performance by Michael C. Hall but also for its impressive lineup of guest stars. The series welcomed iconic actors such as John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits, and Julia Stiles—each leaving a memorable mark on the show’s dark world.

But Dexter: Resurrection, the highly anticipated new chapter in the franchise, has taken things to the next level.

Showtime and the creative team behind Dexter have made the bold and thrilling decision to expand the universe with a truly remarkable cast of internationally recognized stars—names that immediately turned heads when the news broke.

The buzz began last year with Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series that welcomed Sarah Michelle Gellar, Patrick Dempsey, and Christian Slater to the Dexter family—three beloved actors with massive fan followings. Their involvement set the tone for the franchise’s star-powered resurgence.

Now, Dexter: Resurrection is pushing even further. Two of Hollywood’s most iconic figures—Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage—have joined as series regulars, sending excitement levels through the roof. If that wasn’t enough, a lineup of acclaimed actors including Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian are appearing in guest roles—all of them as twisted serial killers.

It’s a casting move that doesn’t just raise the stakes; it raises the franchise’s profile to an entirely new level.

In a new behind-the-scenes interview video released by Showtime, several cast members shared their excitement and passion for joining the Dexter universe. Here's what they had to say:

Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (Blessing Kamara)

Already a fan-favorite just a few episodes in, Mwine’s character Blessing Kamara brings a new energy to the series. Sitting beside co-star David Zayas during the interview, Mwine shared a heartfelt moment:

"You. Seriously, bro," he said to Zayas. "I've been a huge fan of yours for ages. To be able to sit here right now with you is a gift. To be able to play with you on the set, you know, shake it up. It was a real gift."

David Dastmalchian (The Gemini Killer)

Known for his standout roles in numerous Hollywood blockbusters, Dastmalchian is playing Gareth—aka The Gemini Killer—a role he promises will leave fans shaken.

"I'm so excited to join the Dexter universe because I've been a fan for such a long time, and I get to play with some of my favorite actors and play a character that I've never gotten to do before," he said. "You think I've done creepy before? Just wait."

Krysten Ritter (Mia Lapierre)

The Jessica Jones star is diving deep into a role that’s both seductive and psychotic.

"This was, like, an opportunity to really sink my teeth into a very delicious role that doesn't come around very often. A female serial killer who is glamorous and sexy and femme fatale, but also completely deranged and psychotic. And getting to work opposite Michael C. Hall, who's so talented." Ritter said.

She also expressed joy at reuniting with showrunner Scott Reynolds:

"And I got to be reunited with Scott Reynolds, who I worked with on Jessica Jones, and it was just, like, a dream gig and the most fun I've had in years."

Eric Stonestreet (Al Jolly / "Rapunzel")

Best known for his comedic brilliance on Modern Family, Stonestreet is stepping into dark territory as a serial killer with a twisted persona.

"I'm excited because it's a legendary franchise. Right? And I sound like a turd. I was involved in a pretty legendary franchise as well. And if my comedic world can be Modern Family and my dramatic world can be Dexter, I think I would have to say that's a pretty great life, as an actor getting to create characters in both genres."

Kadia Saraf (Detective Claudette Wallace)

Saraf’s character has already made a strong impact, and the actress credits her own personality for blending well with the show’s tone.

"I'm excited to join the world that is very dark, but doesn't take itself too seriously." She continued: "Very much, I'm like that, and I like that and appreciate it, and I thrive in that kind of environment, so that's why I blended right in."

Dominic Fumusa (Detective Melvin Oliva)

The Nurse Jackie alum is especially excited to be filming in the city he calls home.

"I'm excited to join an iconic series with the added touch of being in New York City, which has been my home for three decades, and I consider it to be the greatest city ever."

Emilia Suarez (Elsa Rivera)

Playing a character close to Harrison, Suarez is embracing the legacy of the franchise:

"Obviously, something's working about it. So it's just so wonderful to walk into something that is so deeply loved."

Final Thoughts

The cast of Dexter: Resurrection is not only stacked with talent—they’re genuinely passionate about being part of this legendary series. With familiar faces and bold new characters, the next chapter of Dexter promises to be one of the most thrilling seasons yet.
