To hype fans for the series premiere, Showtime just dropped a new sneak peek clip!
The wait is nearly over! In just a few short hours, Dexter: Resurrection Episodes 1 and 2 will officially drop on Paramount+ (Premium), and to build the excitement even further, Showtime has released an extended sneak peek featuring one of the most highly anticipated moments in the Dexter universe — the reunion between Dexter Morgan and Angel Batista.
This two-minute clip, pulled from Episode 1 titled "A Beating Heart," picks up shortly after the explosive events of the Dexter: New Blood finale. We see Batista waiting for Dexter at a hospital, where Dexter is recovering from a 10-week coma — a direct consequence of his injuries from the New Blood finale. The location? Iron Lake, New York — once again drawing Batista away from his position as Captain of Miami Metro Homicide.
The tension is palpable.
Dexter’s body language is stiff, nervous, and on edge — clearly shaken by this unexpected confrontation. Meanwhile, Batista comes off as confident, composed… and deeply suspicious. It's been nearly a decade in the show's timeline since Dexter faked his death during Hurricane Laura. For all that time, he was presumed dead — until now.
The most chilling moment in the clip? Batista reveals that a woman — Angela Bishop, the Iron Lake police chief and Dexter’s former partner — contacted him out of the blue, convinced that Dexter is none other than the infamous Bay Harbor Butcher. Batista admits he only met her once, but her certainty prompted him to investigate. Dexter’s awkward, unsettled reaction to Batista’s claim adds more fuel to the fire.
Although we got a brief glimpse of this scene in the official trailer, this extended version offers even more insight — though it's still not the full conversation, suggesting more drama is yet to unfold in the episode.
