'Patrick Bateman' Easter Egg in Dexter: Original Sin? Watch 'The Morgans' Face Off in Trivia!

The actors playing the Morgans are putting their knowledge to the test with some Dexter trivia!

Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater, and Molly Brown—who portray Dexter, Harry, and Deb, respectively, in Dexter: Original Sin—recently sat down with Showtime for another entertaining video as part of the lead-up to the new show.

This time, the trio dove into some Dexter trivia, with Christian Slater taking on the role of host. Slater quizzed the two actors who play his "kids" in the prequel with a series of fun questions about the Dexter universe. Curious about the trivia they tackled? Here’s the list:

  • How many kills has Dexter had?
  • What is the first rule of the code?
  • In the original series, how many times does Deb say f**k?
  • What is Dexter’s son’s name?
  • Which serial killer was Deb engaged to?
  • What fake name does Dexter use when buying tranquilizers?

Speaking of aliases, in the video Paddy Gibson teased a minor spoiler about an upcoming Easter egg in a Season 1 episode of the prequel: “This might be a spoiler, but Dexter may have used this alias earlier on in life in Dexter: Original Sin,” Gibson revealed.

The Patrick Bateman Easter egg appeared in Dexter Season 3, Episode 10, titled "Go Your Own Way" where Dex uses the alias "Patrick Bateman" while purchasing M99.

While some fans might question the timeline—since the American Psycho movie wasn’t released until 2000—the cult classic film is actually based on a novel published on March 6, 1991, just a few months before the events of Dexter: Original Sin Season 1.

It’s easy to imagine young Dexter being intrigued by the book, given that its protagonist, Patrick Bateman, is a sociopathic serial killer living a double life—eerily similar to Dexter himself. The reappearance of this Easter egg in the prequel is a cool treat for fans, and we’re confident it’s just one of many surprises the writers have packed into Dexter: Original Sin.
