New Dexter: Original Sin Footage! Patrick Gibson Discusses Dexter's Psychopathic Awakening

Showtime has unveiled yet another behind-the-scenes video!

Happy Dex-cember, Dexter Fans! The month we've all been waiting for has finally arrived—Dexter is back! We're officially 12 days away from the series premiere of Dexter: Original Sin, and Showtime/Paramount+ is ramping up the excitement with fresh promotions for the highly anticipated new show.

Even on a Sunday, Showtime treated fans to a brand-new behind-the-scenes video featuring an interview with Dexter: Original Sin star Patrick Gibson. The 29-year-old actor shared insights about what to expect from 20-year-old Dexter Morgan as his dark journey begins.

"Dexter's Awakening is his psychopathic awakening rather than like a s*xual awakening which like some people have at that time in their lives. Gibson explained. "His Penthouse magazine has serial killers stuck inside."

He added: “The Dexter we meet in Original Sin has not refined his act so to speak yet. This show takes place in that time that we can all relate to. It's an awkward transitional phase from teenage years to adulthood. Dexter's experiencing a lot of those awkward moments while also having to contend with these urges that he just can't ignore anymore."

On Dexter’s relationship with Harry, Gibson noted: "Dexter has never killed, Harry's very much delaying the inevitable it feels like and there's a lot of interesting parallels with those moments of growing up that people have, he's like "dad like killing boars isn't really fun for me anymore" and Harry's like "What?! You used to love that was great" he's like I kind of need a little a little more than that now."

When asked about the enduring appeal of the character, Gibson reflected: "I don't know anyone who doesn't root for Dexter and yet when you investigate that and you look into it it's a little more complex than it first seemed and that's I think an enduring cool thing."
