Dexter: Original Sin has officially arrived, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about the season ahead. The premiere episode, written by showrunner Clyde Phillips and directed by Michael Lehmann, has already made a strong impression on fans. Packed with callbacks to the original series, it’s clear the creators were determined to satisfy even the most devoted, long-time viewers.
To celebrate the premiere, Showtime recently released a collection of behind-the-scenes images from the episode, titled "And in the Beginning..." These photos offer a glimpse into how the cast of the prequel series interacts off-camera. This marks the very first scene filmed for Dexter: Original Sin—and it was shot on location in Miami! In the photo below, you can see Christian Slater and Patrick Gibson bonding between takes, embodying their roles as Harry and Dexter.
2. Bobby Watt, Harry Morgan, and Aaron Spencer Outside Levi Reed’s House
Captured here are Reno Wilson, Christian Slater, and Patrick Dempsey unwinding between takes of a high-stakes scene where their characters raid Levi Reed’s house. Unlike the Miami setting of the first scene, this one was filmed in Los Angeles.
3. Masuka and Tanya Outside Harry’s House
Alex Shimizu and Sarah Michelle Gellar share a casual chat between takes while filming a scene where the Miami Metro team brings food to Dexter and Deb. This moment unfolds as Harry is hospitalized, creating a sense of community around the Morgan family.
4. Dexter and Deb Having Dinner While Harry is Hospitalized
Patrick Gibson and Molly Brown are seen preparing to film this poignant scene where Dexter and Deb grapple with their father’s absence.
5. Masuka at the Forensics Hiring Kiosk
Alex Shimizu gears up for a key moment where Masuka encounters Dexter. Like the hunting scene, this one was also filmed in Miami during early June 2024, tying the story back to its Floridian roots.
