Dexter: Original Sin – Week 23 Behind-the-Scenes Photo Roundup with the Cast

Production on the Dexter prequel is in its final stages and will be wrapping up soon.

Dexter: Original Sin—the highly anticipated spinoff set 15 years before the events of Dexter, in 1991 Miami—is now just 26 days away from its premiere. Production is in full swing and nearing completion, with many main cast members already wrapping up their work on the first season. Over the past week, several others joined that list.

In this article, we’ve compiled all the behind-the-scenes photos shared during Week 23 of Dexter: Original Sin's production. These images, posted by cast members on their Instagram accounts, offer an exciting glimpse into the show’s progress. Keep scrolling to catch up on the latest updates and view all the photos.

Let’s start with a promising young talent, London Thatcher, who plays Nicky Spencer—the son of Miami Metro Homicide’s Captain Aaron Spencer, portrayed by Patrick Dempsey. Thatcher recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram from his last day on set, announcing that he’s officially wrapped filming for Dexter: Original Sin.

London Thatcher and his mother marked the occasion with one final mirror selfie in the young actor's trailer. Sharing the heartfelt moment on Instagram, London captioned the photo: "One last trailer selfie after a very emotional goodbye to the best cast and crew." This touching farewell highlights the strong bonds formed on the set of Dexter: Original Sin as the cast wraps up their journey.

Moving on, Christina Milian, who takes on the role of a younger Maria LaGuerta, shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set, captured between takes.

The multi-talented actress and singer has been juggling a packed schedule lately. In addition to filming the Dexter prequel, she’s also busy promoting her new Netflix Christmas movie, Meet Me Next Christmas. Despite her demanding workload, Milian continues to bring charisma and energy to all her projects.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has officially wrapped filming for Season 1 of Dexter: Original Sin. To celebrate, her co-star Alex Shimizu, who portrays young Vince Masuka, shared a memorable photo from CBS Radford Studios, where much of the Dexter action takes place.

In the image, Gellar is seen alongside her co-stars Christian Slater, Alex Shimizu, and Christina Milian, posing behind a farewell cake made for her and Alex. Interestingly, this wasn’t Alex’s final day on set!

Reflecting on the moment, Gellar shared on her Instagram story, "In all my years, I've never had a wrap cake," and expressed gratitude to Showtime for the gesture.

The acclaimed actress is listed as a special guest star for Dexter: Original Sin. If the trend from the original Dexter series is any indication, special guest stars—villainous or not—often do not return for subsequent seasons. While this might suggest Gellar’s character won’t be part of the show's future, only time will tell.

Burger Day on the Set of Dexter: Original Sin. This past Friday, the cast and crew of Dexter: Original Sin were treated to a special surprise when a Los Angeles burger joint set up shop on set from the early morning.

Executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds couldn’t contain his excitement and took to Instagram to share the news, showcasing the camaraderie and appreciation that fuels the Dexter prequel’s team.

Reno Wilson has officially wrapped filming all his scenes for Season 1 of Dexter: Original Sin. Wilson, who plays Bobby Watt—an entirely new Miami Metro detective created for the prequel—was honored with his own farewell cake as a send-off for his work on the series.

"That’s a wrap on Season 1 for Dexter: Original Sin! So thankful to have worked with this incredible cast, writers, and crew. A fantastic collection of human beings indeed. Let’s run it back! Dec. 13th. Can’t wait for you all to see it," Reno Wilson shared in a heartfelt Instagram post after completing his final scenes.

With less than a month until the premiere, excitement is ramping up. Showtime is gearing up to release the full official trailer and the official poster for Dexter: Original Sin in the coming days. Stay tuned for all the latest updates as the countdown to December 13th continues!
