Which are you more excited for: the Dexter prequel or the sequel?
In February 2023, Showtime announced plans to expand the Dexter universe with several new TV shows. After fourteen months of silence, on May 23, 2024, Paramount finally released three teasers for Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series set in 1991. The teasers introduced the actors portraying Dexter, Harry, and Debra. The star-studded show is currently halfway through filming in Los Angeles, with a premiere set for December.
The second highly anticipated series, Dexter: Resurrection, was announced five weeks ago during the Dexter: Original Sin panel at Comic-Con. Serving as a sequel to Dexter: New Blood, this series will pick up where the 2021 miniseries left off, with Michael C. Hall reprising his role as Dexter Morgan.
Though details on Dexter: Resurrection are scarce, we know it will begin filming in January 2025, with a planned summer release.
Both series will feature Michael C. Hall—he will star in Dexter: Resurrection and narrate Dexter’s inner monologues in Dexter: Original Sin.
