Let’s find out where the production is taking place.
Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series set 15 years before the original show, follows Dexter as he transitions from a student to an avenging serial killer and is currently halfway through production.
Filming began on June 5th in Miami, Florida, where the cast and crew shot various exterior scenes to capture the authentic Miami vibe. After wrapping in Miami ten days later, they returned to Los Angeles to complete the first season. While many scenes are being filmed in outdoor locations in L.A. that need to resemble Miami, most interior scenes are shot in a studio.
So, which studio is it? The answer is CBS Radford Studios, located at 4024 Radford Ave, Studio City.
Unlike the original Dexter series, which filmed at Sunset Gower Studios over its eight-season run, this spin-off is being produced at a different studio.
This change has not affected the production quality; according to showrunner Clyde Phillips, the team has successfully recreated the Miami Metro Police Department set from the original series. Additionally, they have built the interior (as well as the exterior) of Harry's house, where he lives with Dexter and Deb, which was featured in the Dexter: Original Sin intro.
Notable shows filmed at CBS Radford Studios include Will & Grace, Big Brother, CSI: NY, The Defenders, Hot in Cleveland, That '70s Show, According to Jim, and many others.
