Hello, Arthur Mitchell. How will Trinity return in Season 9? Lithgow weights in!

Showtime

Dexter Season 4 special guest star John Lithgow, offered more details about his return to the series earlier this morning, after scoring his 13th Emmy nomination.

Lithgow told Deadline.com that he only was called to film Dexter for one day: "in fact, one afternoon." But when he arrived for the shoot at a studio in Los Angeles, he was happy and excited to find out more about the story the upcoming season is telling.

“I learned that it’s completely different from [the original series]. Kind of like Perry Mason, it’s a reimagination. They don’t take it into a different era, but it’s in a different part of the world, a different part of the country, and a whole new cast of characters. There are all sorts of wonderful surprises and callbacks from the first few seasons.”

John said he first learned of  Dexter's return when Clyde Phillips called him, almost five months ago.

“He said, ‘Can you come just to spend one day in The Berkshires?’” Lithgow recalled. “I said, ‘Of course I can,’ and that’s exactly what it was.”

“As all Dexter fans know, we saw the end of the Trinity Killer, so that by definition means it’s a flashback,” Lithgow said.

“It was just wonderful to rejoin that gang—including Michael and Jennifer Carpenter and Clyde Phillips.”

Not that we had a doubt about Jennifer Carpenter's comeback. We told you first here on DexterDaily about her return, back in February. See here, and here!
