POLL: Which Was Your Favorite Eighth Episode of a Season?

In our latest poll, you can vote for your favorite eighth episode of a Dexter season.

Season 1 Episode 8: While looking into a series of suicides of high profile, powerful women, Dexter realizes a pattern: they all saw the same shrink. Dexter goes into stalk mode and becomes a patient of the shrink to ascertain whether or not he is the killer that he seems to be. Unexpectedly, the shrink helps Dexter unlock dark secrets from his past. Debra's latest relationship with Rudy also quickly heats up. Dexter's relationship with Rita, however, seems to be in danger as Paul works his way deeper into Rita's life and much to Rita's consternation, the kids love him and he's actually civil to her. Meanwhile, Dexter's certainty that Neil Perry is not the Ice Truck Killer helps LaGuerta to decide to not just accept Neil's confession, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.

Season 2 Episode 8: After a fire at Lila's place, Dexter finds her becoming more attached to him than he is comfortable with. Meanwhile, Dexter decides "recovery" isn't working for him and pays a second visit to the man who murdered his mother. At the station, Debra and Lundy find a clue that points to the Bay Harbor Butcher being right under their noses.

Season 3 Episode 8: Miguel brings Dexter another "project," but this time he wants to get his hands dirty. Dexter realizes it's time to teach Miguel the Code — for his own safety as well as Miguel's. As Dexter walks Miguel through the process, Dexter both struggles with, and enjoys, letting Miguel into his private world so completely. But Dexter doesn't realize that this has only whetted Miguel's appetite. Rita finds herself losing control because of the pregnancy. She becomes worried that Dexter may get fed up with her. Because of her hard work, Debra finds herself one step closer to catching the Skinner. But after she finds out a secret about her new boyfriend, Anton, he disappears on her.

Season 4 Episode 8: When Dexter discovers that Trinity is planning an out-of-town trip, Dexter sees an opportunity to ride along and gain insight into the mind of a fellow monster. Even so, Dexter isn't prepared for the startling revelations Trinity makes along the way, revelations about his own past which only serve to convince Dexter of what he must do. Meanwhile, back at Miami Metro, Debra refuses to let a technicality keep her off the Trinity case. She works through others to ensure her voice is heard — that is, until she realizes that her single-minded pursuit of the Trinity Killer may have blinded her to the truth.

Season 5 Episode 8: Dexter attends one of Jordan Chase's seminars and the plan is to rent a hotel room next to Cole Harmon, who is Chase's head of security, and eliminate him there. He shows Lumen how to prepare a killing room but events don't quite unfold as planned. In the end, Dexter gets a vital clue that identifies another of the men who attacked her. Lumen also has to deal with her ex-fiancé who suddenly shows up in Miami. At the station, the fallout from the shootings at the night club begins to take its toll. Debra sees the writing on the wall when Angel Batista tells her he hasn't written his report yet and is still going over what happened. She feels betrayed by an unexpected source but also gets support where she least expects it.

Season 6 Episode 8: Dexter uses lessons he learned from Brother Sam to follow up on some new leads in the Doomsday investigation; Debra butts heads with Captain LaGuerta over the case of a dead call girl.

Season 7 Episode 8: Dexter tries to keep Debra in the dark about his relationship with Hannah, but a surprise visit from Astor, Cody and Harrison throws a wrench into his plans. Fresh out of jail, Isaak renews his pursuit of Dexter while Quinn continues his power struggle with the Koshkas.

Season 8 Episode 8: Dexter tracks down Zach, concerned that he may have murdered an innocent person. Meanwhile, Dexter tries to help Hannah escape the country.

POLL: Which Was Your Favorite Seventh Episode of a Season?

Time to vote for your favorite seventh episode of a Dexter season. The decision may be too hard!

Season 1 Episode 7: Neil Perry, the supposed Ice Truck Killer, doesn't live up to his expectations. Meanwhile, Dexter has to deal with his past when a teenager he caught and released murders again. As a result, Dexter sets out to correct this mistake in one of the only ways he knows how. Rita's family life is torn asunder as her paroled ex-husband, Paul, reasserts himself as the father of her children. Paul even confronts Dexter, letting him know that he doesn't like Dexter being around his wife and kids. Rita wishes that Paul would go away forever, something that is definitely possible when your boyfriend happens to be Dexter.

Season 2 Episode 7: A written manifesto from the "Bay Harbor Butcher" sends the Special Task Force in charge of capturing the killer into chaos. All part of Dexter's plan as he tries to be more "pro-active" in keeping Agent Lundy off his tail. But things start to spiral downward for Dexter as Lila's influence begins to take its toll on Dexter's personal life.

Season 3 Episode 7: Miguel offers Dexter a new potential victim, but after properly vetting her, Dexter isn't sure she fits the Code. When he informs Miguel of this, he reacts with anger, making Dexter believe the new friendship is in danger. An old sickly friend of Dexter's, Camilla, reinforces this idea, when she asks Dexter to help end her life, insisting she would never ask a friend to do something against his conscience. Meanwhile, Rita finds out that Sylvia is beginning to suspect her husband, Miguel, is having an affair. Debra ends up revealing to Anton that he is being used as bait to lure the Skinner, forcing her to find new way to find the Skinner. As a result, Anton realizes Debra cares for him more than he thought.

Season 4 Episode 7: Dexter finally managed to strike a balance between work, family... and other pursuits. But he's keenly aware that times like these aren't meant to last. When Miami Metro discovers a string of murders connected to a prominent photographer, Dexter sees an opportunity for a clean kill. However, his plans seem to be thwarted every step of the way. Even Harry disapproves of Dexter's choice of pastime, urging him instead to focus his efforts on the Trinity Killer. Meanwhile, Debra returns to work, frustrated to find everyone treating her with kid gloves. She decides to concentrate on her pursuit of the Trinity Killer as well as delving into her father's checkered past — investigations which Dexter fears might lead her to danger — or worse, the truth.

Season 5 Episode 7: While helping Lumen, Dexter finds himself on a collision course with Debra and the rest of Homicide when he is called to investigate a horrifying crime scene. Meanwhile, the Santa Muerte case leads to a violent standoff between Debra and the Santa Muerte killers.

Season 6 Episode 7: Dexter finds himself teamed up with a fellow Dark Passenger when he takes a road trip to Nebraska to tie up some loose ends from the past; Debra deals with the complications of her promotion as she leads the Doomsday investigation.

Season 7 Episode 7: Things heat up as Dexter and Hannah grow closer, but when Sal Price discovers the two are involved, he wants the exclusive story. Quinn falls back into his old ways as he makes some questionable choices to protect Nadia.

Season 8 Episode 7: Dexter hunts down Hannah to figure out why she's back in Miami. Dexter takes on a protégé and starts teaching him the code.

Yvonne Strahovski Dishes on Working With the Cast, Hannah's New Life With Harrison In Argentina

via Collider: During a recent interview, Yvonne Strahovski opened up about her time on Dexter and what it was like to play Hannah McKay on the final two seasons. She talked about how much she was told about her character’s journey ahead of time, her reaction to her character’s fate, what she thinks might have happened to Hannah next, what stands out most about the time she spent on the show, what her last scene with Michael C. Hall was like, how the support of the Chuck fans compared to the support of the Dexter fans, and where she’d like her career to go next.

Collider: When I spoke to you before your run on Dexter started, you couldn’t really say anything about anything.  Did you really know that little, at the time, or did you just pretend really well?
Yvonne: We knew certain things, but the ending was very much kept under lock and key.

When you were first cast on the show, what exactly were you told about Hannah?  Did they give you hints about anything, going forward?  Did you know you’d make it past that first season?
No. I had a phone conversation with Scott Buck, who explained to me what Hannah’s arc was going to be in Season 7.  I loved what he was describing for the character and the journey, and how involved it was gonna be with Dexter.  So, I just at the opportunity to play this role.  I was surprised when I got to the end of Season 7, and I read that scene where she leaves the black orchid at his doorstep, I thought, “Wow, this is a pretty open ending.  This might mean that they want me back.”  And sure enough, Season 8 happened and I thought, “Well, I probably will end up dying in this season, seeing as I didn’t die in Season 7, and traditionally, most of the guest stars on that show usually die.”  I was definitely surprised to have survived, and to have played such a pivotal role in the actual ending, where it all ended up, to the very last second.  It was quite a journey and quite an experience. NuvoTV Picks Up Dexter For Basic-Cable Syndie Debut

Dexter Morgan lives to cut again — on a basic-cable network that specializes in running English-language programming for Latino audiences.

The Showtime series, which was licensed to Netflix earlier this year, will make its basic-cable premiere on NuvoTv on Jan. 13 ,when the network begins rolling out episodes for all eight seasons, all presented uncut and in their entirety.

Nuvo,  which launched as Si TV in 2004 and recast itself as Nuvo in 2011, is counting on “Dexter’s” large Latino cast  and Miami setting to appeal to viewers, said Bill Hilary, the network’s exec veep of programming, in an interview.  ”It’s what we are about. It’s got a real Latino point of view,” he said, adding that launch of the show on Nuvo would serve as a “big statement” at the start of 2014.

The series’ cast includes Lauren Velez, David Zayas, Angel Juan Marcos Batista, Aimee Garcia, Christian Camargo, Edward James Olmos and Jimmy Smits. Michael C. Hall played the title character.  In support of the series’ January premiere on NuvoTv, the network has launched a dedicated area on its website at mynuvotv.com/dexter.

Nuvo has exclusive basic-cable access to “Dexter” for nine months as part of its content-licensing pact with CBS, which represented sister network Showtime, said Hilary. After nine months, Nuvo will continue to run the series, but will not have exclusive rights to do so as a deal with another cable outlet is in the offing. Nuvo intends to run two fresh episodes each week, along with re-airings, but does not intend to glut its air with multiple “Dexter” episodes, the executive said. Head over to Variety to read more.

David Zayas Promoted to Series Regular In His First Post-Dexter Role on FX's 'Saint George'

via THR: FX hasn't set an official premiere date for its upcoming George Lopez comedy yet, but the 10/90 comedy has already made a key promotion.

Dexter alum David Zayas has been upped to series regular on Saint George, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The comedy centers on the chaotic life of a recently divorced working-class Mexican-American who becomes a successful entrepreneur. Lopez is set to portray a man who struggles to balance his demanding ex-wife, his 11-year-old son, his overbearing mother who just moved in and his uncle as well as his new role as a philanthropist "giving back" by teaching history once a week at night school. Zayas co-stars as Junior, Tio's (Danny Trejo) son and George's cousin. Junior, like Tio, is a bit quirky and off-center. Both admire the other and take advantage of George's success and are always brainstorming ways to make money -- sometimes legally.

Saint George was co-created by Lopez, Matt Williams (Roseanne) and David McFadzean, with the trio set to co-write the first episode. The men, along with 3 Arts' Michael Rotenberg (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Dete Meserve and Judd Payne will serve as executive producers on the project, which will premiere in early 2014. Lionsgate TV is set to produce in association with Wind Dancer Films, Travieso Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment.

In addition to Dexter, Zayas most recently guest starred on Fox's The Following. Currently filming Annie, Helen Hunt's Ride and Martin Scorsese indie The Wannabe, he's repped by ATA, Innovative and Schreck Rose.

Michael C. Hall Dishes on Saying Goodbye to Dexter, Marrying and Divorcing Jennifer Carpenter and More

via The Guardian: After eight years of seeing his face reflected in a knife blade across the buses of Los Angeles and New York, in his role as blood-spatter analyst/serial killer Dexter Morgan, Michael C. Hall is finding it nice to talk about a different character.

His role in the beat generation drama Kill Your Darlings is the least known figure in a largely forgotten murder scandal that engulfed the proto-beats, and perhaps even fashioned them into the movement we now recognise. In New York City in 1944, Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe), William S Burroughs (Ben Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston) were all inspired by an epicene beauty from the midwest, Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan), who liked to stand on the university library tables and read out the raunchiest bits of Henry Miller's still-taboo Tropic of Cancer to scandalised squares.

Carr had arrived at Princeton University pursued by a mysterious, infatuated mentor and possible ex-lover, David Kammerer, played by Hall. Carr later murdered Kammerer in Central Park and was sentenced to two years in prison after claiming homosexual harassment. Carr was the dedicatee of Ginsberg's Howl, but asked for his name to be removed from subsequent editions, and lived the rest of his life as a respected editor at news agency UPI. Burroughs and Kerouac collaborated on a novel about the killing, And the Hippos Were Boiled in Their Tanks, a year later, which remained unpublished until 2008, three years after Carr's death. And now, Kill Your Darlings may stand as one of the best and most persuasive of all the movies about the beats.

So we know about the survivors; what about the corpse?

"I knew the story beforehand quite well myself," says Hall, who is just back from Bangladesh and suffering a dose of jet lag that occasionally manifests itself in the form of long, spacey pauses, for which he apologises. "I was surprised no one had ever made a movie of it beforehand. There was remarkably little known about David Kammerer, considering what happened to him, but there was enough there for me to build upon when it came to filling in the blanks, of which there were quite a few. I did what I could with research and information about the times. There were real-time entries in Ginsberg's diaries – meeting Kammerer for the first time." Read the rest of the article below!

Michael C. Hall Talks Life After Dexter and More: "It's Exciting to Be Free to Explore New Characters"

via Independent: There was a time when everyone wanted to do "a George Clooney" and make an effortless transition from the small screen to the big screen. The posse from Friends couldn't manage it. The Seinfeld squad struggled. And then came the new golden age of television and it seemed that every actor worth his salt wanted to make it big in our living rooms. So it's kind of a throwback to sit down with Michael C Hall and discuss Kill Your Darlings, his first film since TV executives murdered his serial killer Dexter.

The 42-year-old gives the impression that he was dying for Dexter to end. On the final day of filming he says that a bar was set up and an impromptu party was had. He says, "I am certainly thankful for the time, and I shall miss that family, but there is also a sense of relief in that soup of feelings." A sentiment reinforced by his time on the Kill Your Darlings film set. "It was so nice to be reminded that there was something other than a serial killer to play. It was restorative."

He has discovered the hard way how not to make proclamations about where his career will be headed. "You know I finished Six Feet Under and I said in interviews like this: 'I'll never do another television series again.' I learned to never say never, but I wouldn't like to make commitments to characters that are open-ended, right now." Read the full article after the jump!

POLL: Which Was Your Favorite Fourth Episode of a Season?

What's your favorite fourth episode from all eight seasons of Dexter? Vote below!

Season 1 Episode 4: The Ice Truck Killer begins leaving pictures from Dexter's childhood at the crime scenes. Is the killer trying to tell Dexter something about his own past?

Season 2 Episode 4: Rita's estranged mother visits and senses something is wrong with Dexter. Masuka thinks he's developed a lead in the Bay Harbor Butcher case, which has Dexter concerned. Angel's interrogation of a witness crosses a line.

Season 3 Episode 4: After a failed marriage proposal, Dexter attempts to convince Rita that he wants more than a financial merger and fatherhood. He wants a family with Rita. Deb lands a new case. Miguel's brother, Ramon, is dead set on finding Oscar's murderer, which worries Dexter and Miguel.

Season 4 Episode 4: Dexter is left home alone and with free time as Rita takes the kids on a vacation which may prove interesting for Dexter in several ways. Michael C. Hall: "I Can't Deny That I Have an Appetite For Morally Grey, Unsympathetic Characters''

via The Sydney Morning Herald: Does Michael C. Hall seem a little preoccupied with death? His 2001 role as an undertaker in the hit series Six Feet Under was followed by his critically acclaimed 2006 title role as a serial killer in the TV drama Dexter.

Now it continues with the indie drama film Kill Your Darlings, in which he plays the murdered gay lover of an early member of the legendary Beat generation.

Hall laughs in response to this impressive list of death-related work and jokes, ''actually, for my next project, I'm playing Bozo the Clown!''

Looking relaxed, the bearded 42-year-old is sitting in a Toronto hotel suite the morning after his new film has been enthusiastically received at the film festival.

''I can't deny that I have an appetite for these maybe more complex, morally grey, inherently unsympathetic stories or characters,'' he says. ''But yeah, I'd also love to have the opportunity to play someone who is not uniquely afflicted or uniquely capable, someone who is a regular person to whom something miraculous happens.''
