The eighth season begins six months following LaGuerta's murder. Debra works as a private investigator, with Batista replacing her as lieutenant. Meanwhile, Miami Metro investigates a murder in which the victim had pieces of his brain removed.

Season 7 Episode 9 - "Helter Skelter"
As Dexter scrambles to track down Isaak, a power struggle erupts among the Koshka Brotherhood, which could prove to Dexter's advantage. Meanwhile, Miami Dade tries to smoke out the Phantom Arsonist.

Season 7 Episode 8 - "Argentina"
Dexter attempts to keep his relationship with Hannah a secret from Debra, but that gets blown out of the water when Astor, Cody and Harrison pay him a surprise visit and the news leaks out. Meanwhile, Isaak gets out of jail and steps up his pursuit of Dexter, while Quinn's power struggle with the Koshkas intensifies.

Season 7 Episode 7 - "Chemistry"
Dexter and Hannah's relationship heats up, which crime-beat writer Sal Price is very interested to learn, so much so that he helps Debra dig up some information on her. Meanwhile, Quinn's attempts to protect his girlfriend lead to some questionable moves.

Season 7 Episode 6 - "Do the Wrong Thing"
Debra befriends a local crime writer who claims to have incriminating info on Hannah McKay; Quinn receives a strange offer and he's wont to accept it; Batista contemplates a business opportunity, while LaGuerta hopes to dredge up new evidence in the Bay Harbor Butcher case.

Season 7 Episode 5 - "Swim Deep"
Dexter seeks to learn why someone was killed on his boat, while at the same time, he tries to outmaneuver Isaak, who is bent on revenge. Later, the Wayne Randall case takes a positive turn when new leads are brought to light by his fetching former accomplice, whom Dexter learns is harboring a secret.

Season 7 Episode 4 - "Run"
After capturing a deadly killer, things go awry for Miami Metro, sending Debra into a tailspin. In an effort to help his sister, Dexter enters into a dangerous game of cat and mouse, while the Ukrainian mob continues to seek revenge.

Season 7 Episode 3 - "Buck the System"
Dexter tries to bring Debra on board with his new target. While the Ukrainian mob seeks revenge for the killing of one of their own, Quinn grows close to a dancer at their strip club. LaGuerta, convinced the Bay Harbor Butcher is still out there, attempts to enlist Batista to help her re-open the case. 

Season 7 Episode 2 - "Sunshine and Frosty Swirl"
When a local convict claims he has new information regarding a 15-year-old crime spree, Miami Metro sets out to unearth new evidence on the case. Debra attempts to cure Dexter of his killer tendencies. Meanwhile, the Mike Anderson case leads to the Ukrainian mob and a vengeful Louis won't stop meddling with Dexter's life.

Season 7 Episode 1 - "Are You....?"
After witnessing her brother kill Travis Marshall, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) attempts to reconcile with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) while struggling to cover up their involvement with the murder. Meanwhile, Detective Mike Anderson has an unfortunate run-in, Quinn and Batista begin to make amends, and LaGuerta finds evidence that causes her to re-think the closed Bay Harbor Butcher case.

However, his plans seem to be thwarted every step of the way. Quinn has taken a renewed interest in Dexter's nightlife. Dexter's plans to keep Astor and Cody distracted with new activities soon backfire. Even Harry disapproves of Dexter's choice of pastime, urging him instead to focus his efforts on the Trinity Killer. Meanwhile, Debra returns to work, frustrated to find everyone treating her with kid gloves. She decides to concentrate on her pursuit of the Trinity Killer as well as delving into her father's checkered past — investigations which Dexter fears might lead her to danger — or worse, the truth.

Season 4 Episode 6: "If I Had A Hammer"

Trinity hides behind a well-kept mask, and getting behind that facade will require some extra prodding on Dexter's part. Meanwhile, Debra becomes frustrated when she finds herself shut out from her own case. She considers bending the rules in the name of justice, risking her career in the process. LaGuerta and Batista come to regret a major decision, and realize that by playing by the rules they may have painted themselves into a corner. And when the friction between Rita and Dexter comes to a head, Dexter gleans relationship advice from a most unlikely source.

Can Dexter handle the pressures of family, or is he headed down a similar dark path? Meanwhile, LaGuerta and Batista argue over department protocol, which threatens their professional relationship. And Debra aids Lundy in his quest to find the Trinity Killer, neither of them realizing just how close Trinity is to achieving his goals.

His mobility is also hampered by Rita, who insists on driving him around after his incident. Dexter's not the only one feeling trapped — Debra is less than thrilled when Anton announces he's taken a local job to spend more time with her. Meanwhile, the Trinity Killer dispatches his next victim. Debra becomes drawn to Lundy's theories about Trinity, while Dexter finds himself in awe of Trinity's masterful killing technique. Despite their enthusiasm, LaGuerta threatens to shut down the investigation, instead focused on bringing the Vacation Murderers to justice.

Meanwhile, Dexter watches helplessly as Miguel draws Rita closer through a wonderful wedding gift. Season 3 Episode 9: "About Last Night"
Dexter starts to fear that Miguel may have strayed from the newly taught Code. This concern starts to put a strain on their friendship. And Dexter doesn't get a reprieve from this at Rita's either. Sylvia, noting how Miguel is never at home anymore, tells Rita that she is now convinced that Miguel is having an affair. Rita decides to confront Miguel about his indiscretions. Meanwhile, Anton is confirmed to have been taken by the Skinner, sending Debra into a furious search, not only for Anton, but also for his potential killer.

Season 3 Episode 8: "The Damage a Man Can Do"
Miguel brings Dexter another "project," but this time he wants to get his hands dirty. Dexter realizes it's time to teach Miguel the Code — for his own safety as well as Miguel's. As Dexter walks Miguel through the process, Dexter both struggles with, and enjoys, letting Miguel into his private world so completely. But Dexter doesn't realize that this has only whetted Miguel's appetite. Rita finds herself losing control because of the pregnancy. She becomes worried that Dexter may get fed up with her. Because of her hard work, Debra finds herself one step closer to catching the Skinner. But after she finds out a secret about her new boyfriend, Anton, he disappears on her.

Season 3 Episode 7: "Easy As Pie"
Miguel offers Dexter a new potential victim, but after properly vetting her, Dexter isn't sure she fits the Code. When he informs Miguel of this, he reacts with anger, making Dexter believe the new friendship is in danger. An old sickly friend of Dexter's, Camilla, reinforces this idea, when she asks Dexter to help end her life, insisting she would never ask a friend to do something against his conscience. Meanwhile, Rita finds out that Sylvia is beginning to suspect her husband, Miguel, is having an affair. Debra ends up revealing to Anton that he is being used as bait to lure the Skinner, forcing her to find new way to find the Skinner. As a result, Anton realizes Debra cares for him more than he thought.

Season 3 Episode 6: "Si Se Puede"
Dexter grapples with what to do with his newfound friend, Miguel, who thinks he is clued in to Dexter's vigilante ways. So Dexter decides to test him to see how far he wants to go. Dexter reveals that he's always wanted to bring a violent white supremacist who is already in jail, to his brand of 'justice.' Thinking this will force Miguel to back away, Dexter is surprised to find that Miguel is not only on board, but he has a daring strategy to complete Dexter's dark plan. Simultaneously, Rita gets fired from her job, leaving her wondering if she will ever have a real career. Debra is upset when she realizes she may be partially responsible for another mysteriously skinned homicide case she's trying to solve.

Season 3 Episode 5: "Turning Biminese"
While Dexter struggles with how to handle Rita's desire for them to move in together before they get married, Miguel tells Dexter about a husband who has gotten away with killing two of his wives for financial gain. For Dexter, this seems like the perfect candidate to satisfy his dark urge and his need, like every man under relationship pressures, to get away. Dexter tracks the murderer to Bimini. While on the hunt, Rita has a medical emergency and he is nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Debra works with Anton, her confidential informant to track down one of Freebo's criminal confidants. But Debra finds herself oddly attracted to Anton.

Season 3 Episode 4: "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"
While grocery shopping with Rita and the kids, Dexter comes across a fellow predator. But this one is a pedophile. After the pedophile is seen talking with Astor, Dexter must decide if he fits The Code. Meanwhile, Debra has a new homicide to solve, a mysteriously skinned Jane Doe that they like Freebo for. But Dexter knows that Freebo is not the culprit, so he must find a way to help Debra identify their murder victim, thus proving that Freebo didn't do the crime. While doing this, Dexter learns that Miguel Prado wants Dexter to be his friend. But just how smart is it for Dexter, a serial killer, to befriend an Assistant District Attorney?

Season 3 Episode 2: "Finding Freebo"
Dexter and Rita have to make a big decision about their family, forcing Dexter to think about what it means to be responsible for kids. Is he ready to commit to this new family? Meanwhile, Dexter and Assistant District Attorney, Miguel Prado, find themselves hunting down the same murderer, Freebo, the man accused of killing Miguel's little brother. As a result, Debra and the Homicide department are tasked to find Freebo. Debra, through her supposedly dirty partner, Quinn, is introduced to a C.I. and musician named Anton, in the hopes of drumming up a lead on where Freebo may be. Season 3 Episode 1: "Our Father"
For Dexter, life seems to be going well. His relationship with Rita and her kids is back on track. He's no longer under scrutiny at his day job as a blood spatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide. And his night job as a serial killer is operating on all cylinders. So when he sets his sights on Freebo, a dope dealer and killer, it looks to be just another night of Dexter's dark justice. But things don't go as planned and Dexter must find a way to extract himself from a pair of problems that he created, both in his home and night life. Dexter also finds himself inexorably drawn to Miguel Prado, an Assistant District Attorney, who has a very personal reason to bring Freebo to justice. Meanwhile, Debra is put in a difficult situation when someone from Internal Affairs wants her to inform on her new partner, Quinn.

At the station, Debra and Lundy find a clue that points to the Bay Harbor Butcher being right under their noses.

Season 2 Episode 7: "That Night, a Forest Grew"
A written manifesto from the "Bay Harbor Butcher" sends the Special Task Force in charge of capturing the killer into chaos. All part of Dexter's plan as he tries to be more "pro-active" in keeping Agent Lundy off his tail. But things start to spiral downward for Dexter as Lila's influence begins to take its toll on Dexter's personal life.

Season 2 Episode 6: "Dex, Lies, and Videotape"
Dexter is none too pleased to discover a copy-cat killer has started his own attempt at vigilante serial murder in Miami. He is even less pleased to learn the new killer claims to be inspired by the "Bay Harbor Butcher." As Dexter sets out to stop the imposter, he finds himself drawn into the arms of Lila. When Rita discovers the truth, it could be the end of their relationship.

Season 2 Episode 5: "The Dark Defenfer"
Dexter discovers the man who killed his mother, before his young eyes, is still alive. When he shares this information with Lila, she suggests he face the man, as part of his "steps" to addiction recovery. And as his sponsor she insists on tagging along. But when Dexter finds his mother's murderer, his killer urges push him back to the knife's edge.

Season 2 Episode 4: "See-Through"
While pretending to be a drug addict, Dexter gets an N.A. sponsor to please Rita. But when the sponsor turns out to be a beautiful woman who may have more in common with Dexter, Rita is not happy. Things get worse for Rita when her estranged mother comes for a visit. Meanwhile, Dexter must find a way to lead the all-too-smart FBI Agent Lundy, now working with Miami Metro PD, off his trail.

Season 2 Episode 3: "An Incovenient Lie"
Dexter stalks his latest victim: a murderer so vile he could only be a used-car salesman. Dexter finds the man's smooth-talking charm and effortless lying are things that he himself is lacking these days. Dexter, still trying to recover his killer instincts, continues his pursuit of the mountain-sized gangster, Little Chino. Debra convinces herself she is past the trauma of her ordeal with the Ice Truck Killer, but loses control on the job. As they both struggle with their recent pasts, Agent Lundy, a high-profile FBI agent, comes to Miami Metro PD to break the case of the city's newly discovered serial killer, the Bay Harbor Butcher.

Season 2 Episode 1: "It's Alive!"
After killing his brother, the Ice Truck Killer, at the end of last season, Dexter now finds himself unable to kill again. He certainly wants to, and in fact needs to, but he is unnerved by feelings he can't understand. After nearly being killed by the Ice Truck Killer, Debra returns to work at Miami Metro PD, but shows signs that she may not be ready to resume duty just yet.

Season 1 Episode 12: "Born Free"
Dexter's loyalties are put to the test as he follows clues that the Ice Truck Killer leaves for him. But as Dexter goes on the hunt, he wonders just how deep he will have to go down the Ice Truck Killer's dark and demented path. Doakes, still thinking that Dexter may be the Ice Truck Killer, uses questionable methods to stop Dexter from his hunt for the Ice Truck Killer. Meanwhile, as Dexter remains unavailable to Rita, her ex-husband, Paul, tries to convince her that Dexter is a very dangerous man to have around their children.

Season 1 Episode 11: "Truth be Told"
The Ice Truck Killer strikes again, leaving a real nightmare before Christmas at Santa's Cottage. But this time, Dexter notices that the kill is not as 'tidy' as the previous kills, as if the Ice Truck Killer is rushing to leave Miami. But in reality, the Ice Truck Killer has kidnapped someone very close to Dexter to lure him into a trap that will change Dexter's life forever. Meanwhile, Sgt. Doakes notices that Dexter has been acting strangely around the Homicide division, making him wonder if in fact, Dexter is the Ice Truck Killer.

Season 1 Episode 10: "Seeing Red"
Dexter's world is shaken when he is called to the crime scene of a massacre unlike any that he's ever seen before... or so he thinks, until a series of memories comes streaming back that shock him to his core. Meanwhile, Rita has to hire a lawyer when Paul brings a surprising case against her to take sole custody of their children. Batista follows a new lead on the Ice Truck Killer case that brings him one step closer to apprehending the sadistic serial killer. But does it bring him too close?

Season 1 Episode 9: "Father Knows Best"
Dexter receives a registered letter that informs him that his biological father has recently died. This comes as a shock, because Harry, Dexter's adoptive father, had told Dexter that his real father had died over 30 years ago. As Dexter takes off to reconnect to his shadowy past, Rita decides to come along to help him make it through the weekend. Then Debra and Rudy join them for the weekend at the dead bio-dad's house and things become even more awkward. Back in Miami, Doakes is involved in the questionable shooting of a middle-aged Haitian man. Internal Affairs investigates and Batista has to decide if he's going to tell the truth about the shooting, or back Doakes' untrue version of the actual incident.

Season 1 Episode 8: "Shrink Wrap"
While looking into a series of suicides of high profile, powerful women, Dexter realizes a pattern: they all saw the same shrink. Dexter goes into stalk mode and becomes a patient of the shrink to ascertain whether or not he is the killer that he seems to be. Unexpectedly, the shrink helps Dexter unlock dark secrets from his past. Debra's latest relationship with Rudy also quickly heats up. Dexter's relationship with Rita, however, seems to be in danger as Paul works his way deeper into Rita's life and much to Rita's consternation, the kids love him and he's actually civil to her. Meanwhile, Dexter's certainty that Neil Perry is not the Ice Truck Killer helps LaGuerta to decide to not just accept Neil's confession, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.

Season 1 Episode 7: "Circle of Friends"
Debra and Batista find proof that Neil Perry is the Ice Truck Killer when they find a body beneath Neil's trailer home. A manhunt ensues to find and capture Neil before he kills again. As more and more evidence rises to the surface, Dexter is left adrift. Neil Perry, the supposed Ice Truck Killer, doesn't live up to his expectations. Meanwhile, Dexter has to deal with his past when a teenager he caught and released murders again. As a result, Dexter sets out to correct this mistake in one of the only ways he knows how. Rita's family life is torn asunder as her paroled ex-husband, Paul, reasserts himself as the father of her children. Paul even confronts Dexter, letting him know that he doesn't like Dexter being around his wife and kids. Rita wishes that Paul would go away forever, something that is definitely possible when your boyfriend happens to be Dexter.

Season 1 Episode 6: "Return To Sender"
Dexter arrives at a crime scene to find one of his victims he has disposed of has mysteriously returned to the scene of the kill. Dexter figures that it's the Ice Truck Killer, letting him know that he knows what Dexter is up to. The noose is tightened further, when LaGuerta finds a young Cuban boy hiding at the crime scene — there's no way he missed seeing Dexter capture the victim. Dexter has to figure out a plan to stay out of the crosshairs of his own Homicide Division while investigating his own crime. Meanwhile, Rita has to deal with her abusive ex-husband, Paul, when he's released from jail and wants to come to their daughter's birthday party.

Season 1 Episode 5: "Love American Style"
Debra's discovery of an Ice Truck Killer victim being found alive gives LaGuerta and her Homicide detectives their first chance to identify the notorious serial killer. Debra and Doakes, assigned to the case, sit with the mutilated victim, in the hopes that he will be able to identify the killer. While Dexter works on the case, Rita tells Dexter about a friend of hers whose fiance has disappeared while immigrating from Cuba by way of a coyote (a human trafficker). When the fiance turns up dead, Dexter decides to hunt down the murderous coyote. But things don't go as planned when Dexter realizes that there is more to the vicious trafficker than his careful stalking prepared him for.

Season 1 Episode 4 "Let's Give The Boy A Hand"
Dexter's past comes to life when body parts begin appearing throughout Miami, gifts from the Ice Truck Killer. The horrific tableaus created in places of Dexter's childhood memories start to make Dexter question his own past and his reasons for controlling his dark urges. Meanwhile, LaGuerta's hunt for Tony Tucci has to go in a different direction when new information comes to light about Tucci and his connection to the Ice Truck Killer. Doakes, the lead investigator of the Ice Truck Killer case, becomes afraid for his life when a crime boss puts his thugs on the trail of Doakes, 'innocently' following him wherever he goes.

Season 1 Episode 3 "The Popping Cherry"
Dexter is called in to help Debra with the investigation into the Ice Truck Killer's latest murder, while Dexter hunts his latest victim, a teenager named Jeremy who is a recently released murderer who looks like he's about to kill again. Despite Debra and Dexter's protestations, Lt. LaGuerta starts a manhunt for Tony Tucci, the nightwatchman videotaped at the ice rink where body parts were found. But while the manhunt for Tucci begins, a skeptical Debra keeps looking for the "real" Ice Truck Killer. Meanwhile, Doakes decides to go after the crime boss at his church, confronting him and his daughter about his part in the murder of a cop and his wife. Rita, Dexter's girlfriend, has her own troubles when someone from her incarcerated husband's past comes to visit, demanding repayment of drugs lost by her husband.

Season 1 Episode 2 "Crocodile"
Dexter is stalking his next victim, a drunk driver about to be acquitted for the murder of a teenage boy. But when a fellow cop is found murdered, Dexter has to put that on hold to help Homicide Detectives Batista and Doakes investigate a crime boss suspected of the murder. It gets even more personal when the crime boss also orders a hit on the wife of the murdered cop. Meanwhile, the hooker-hunting Ice Truck Killer strikes again and leaves a macabre piece of evidence that Debra finds, gaining her the transfer she wanted out of Vice and into Homicide.

Season 1 Episode 1 "Dexter"
Dexter Morgan, Miami Metro Police Department blood spatter analyst, has a double life. When he's not helping the Homicide division solve murders, he spends his time hunting and killing bad guys who slip through the justice system. His sister, Debra, a vice squad officer, pulls Dexter into her world when a series of hookers are being murdered around Miami. With his help, she sees a chance to get on the good side of her boss, Lt. LaGuerta. Meanwhile, Dexter's girlfriend, Rita Bennett, a single mother of two whose abusive ex-husband is in jail, wants to take their relationship to the next level.
