Michael C. Hall: "People Seem to Respond to Dexter's Dark Side"
With the last season of Dexter, starting in the United Kingdom, this Sunday, Michael C. Hall talks Dexter for metro.co.uk:
Dexter kills according to ‘the code’, slaying only those who ‘deserve’ it. Does he deserve a medal or the death penalty?
I think he should be given a medal and then beaten to death with it. I try not to weigh in on the morality of Dexter but there are many forms of punishment, and not all by traditional means.
Do you worry about being too strongly identified with one character after playing him for seven years?
I look forward to finding out. I would like to hope there are things on the horizon I can’t imagine yet. But I realise Dexter will probably be on my tombstone.
How do people treat you in the supermarket since you started playing a serial killer?
They are very polite: ‘You go ahead, go ahead. No, no, you go, go, you go first. I am sure you are in a hurry.’ In seriousness, if people are truly scared or freaked out, they don’t say anything at all. Most people seem to have a real enthusiasm for Dexter. Skip the jump for the whole interview...

Yvonne Strahovski Talks About Forming an Unusual Bond With a Serial Killer
On the occasion of the Season 7 premiere in the United Kingdom, Australian Times talked with Yvonne Strahovski about the show and more.
“It’s great to be able to play different types of characters. Hannah is definitely a darker character for me than some of my other roles, and Michael C. Hall was a great inspiration in how to play a character that is dark but still likable. He has the ability to change the dynamic where the audience is rooting for the serial killer to win.”
Strahovski, a graduate of the University of Western Sydney, started in the Australian entertainment industry by taking on small roles in local dramas before moving to the United States of America and landing a role in the NBC spy-comedy Chuck. The show quickly attracted a cult following, with Strahovski’s character CIA Agent Sarah Walker appearing throughout Chuck’s five-year run.
Strahovski said: “When I got the role on Chuck everything happened so fast, it was like a steam train that didn’t stop. I was thrown into the deep end and didn’t know what to expect. I remember when I got my first fan mail I was so shocked. Chuck grew an enormously dedicated fan base… We were on the bubble constantly, but the fans stood by us and I am honoured by their dedication.” Skip the jump to read the rest of the article...

Julie Benz Talks Dexter and Defiance For MTV
Via: splashpage.mtv.com: Hearing actress Julie Benz describe her new TV series conjures memories of a certain beloved show from long ago: A future post-war society struggling to survive. A gritty new frontier. Powerful, complex females who are good with weapons.
But it’s not the second coming of “Firefly” – it’s Syfy’s “Defiance,” and it’s got all of the above plus seven alien races and an MMO video game.
In “Defiance,” which premieres April 15th (the game launches two weeks prior), Benz plays Amanda Rosewater, newly-appointed mayor of the town for which the show is named. “She’s a bit in over her head as far as her job goes,” says Benz of her character. “Her heart’s in the right place, but that doesn’t always serve her well.”
“Defiance” is set in what was formerly St. Louis, eight years after a massive war between humans and aliens. “It’s not a pretty show,” says Benz. “It’s not like I had great clothes and I got lots of hair and make-up.” But it was work that the actress nonetheless enjoyed. “I had to go through automatic weapons training, which was pretty intense and pretty cool.” Skip the jump to read the rest...

Aimee Garcia Dishes on Dexter Season 8, a Potential Relationship Between Jamie and Quinn & More
Hypable.com caught up with Aimee Garcia after news broke of her re-signing on to Dexter season 8. Read her latest interview, below:
"We reported on Tuesday that Aimee Garcia will return to Dexter as Jamie, the babysitter of Harrison, and Angel Batista’s younger sister. Jamie has shone since her beginning in season 6, and has been trusted by the writers to hold down her own storyline within Dexter, not only as Harrison’s babysitter, but also paving her way in having a relationship with Louis Greene; and now it seems as though Joseph Quinn may be her next acquaintance.
But how did Aimee get her hands on that initial script in season 6? Aimee tells us, “Dexter‘s Casting Director Shawn Dawson called me, and said I would be great for the role of Jamie. I felt honoured that such a great show personally called me in. They sent me the scenes, and I met with the masterminds behind the show – Scott Buck, Sarah Colleton and John Dahl.”
Earlier this week, Jennifer Carpenter confirmed via Twitter than the cast had sat down and had the first read through of season 8. We asked Aimee whether Jamie will see even more storylines come her way and what we’ll see as her character develops throughout season 8. Aimee said, “The great thing about Dexter is that you never know what’s coming. The writers are constantly throwing curve balls, and they keep the actors in the dark…which I like. I have no idea what’s in store for Jamie, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she stops being so innocent and starts showing another side.” Read the rest of the interview, after the jump.

Michael C. Hall: "I Can’t Deny That I'm Drawn to Creepy Characters"
Via: The Wall Street Journal: In the coming film, “Kill Your Darlings,” Michael C. Hall, star of the Showtime series “Dexter,” plays David Kammerer, the real-life English teacher who followed Lucien Carr to New York during the nascent stage of the Beat Generation.
Kammerer’s obsession with Carr, and his own untimely death, is a relatively little-known fact of the Beat Generation of poets, which included Carr (played in the film by Dane DeHaan), William Burroughs (Ben Foster), Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston) and a young and green Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe).
Hall’s portrayal of Kammerer manages to make you both squirm in your seat with discomfort, and empathize with the pain of unrequited love.
“I can’t deny that I’m drawn to creepy characters,” Hall told The Wall Street Journal in an interview at the Sundance Film Festival, where “Kill Your Darlings” premiered. Read more, after the jump...
