    1. The ratings won't matter. MCH has already said he is not willing to continue the show after season 8.

  4. Wow, my post was deleted coz I said the worst episodes got the highest ratings? Is only blind praise acceptable on this page?

    1. How do you figure 6.12 being the worst episode? Seriously, that was a pretty sweet episode.

Travis and Gellar were the weaknesses of Season 6, but the rest of the story was pretty great.

It's pretty obvious from the ratings that the watchers are extremely interested in Dex and Deb and what is going on there. 6.08 and 6.12 were extremely Dex/Deb centric, especially in the promo's that preceded the episodes, which is no doubt, why the turnout was high for those. Viewers are tuning in to watch that dynamic, and to see what happens between those two characters. Hopefully the writers remember that for next year.

As Deb goes further and further into Dexter's world, more and more people are going to want to watch. They will want to know just how far she might go for the sake of love, and is there a vengeance streak in her as well? What will she do for Dexter? Will she turn a blind eye or actually help him start hunting bad guys? Will she use his skills to aid her career? Will she get involved in the same degree that Miguel and Lumen did? How far will she go to protect the man she loves, and when will she tell him how she really feels. When is he going to discover that he loves her, and will it be too late? Will Debra break his heart. When will the first kiss happen for real? Will she she help him dump a body? Will she ever ask him to kill a specific target like in the books? Will he give her a blood slide? Will they make love? Will Dexter kill Maria to protect Deb? Will Deb kill Quinn to protect Dexter? Will they have a baby?

So many reasons for viewers to watch this show now, aside from the tired "big bad' plot.

  5. Ratings mean nothing. I hope MCH keeps a hardline stance on the series only going eight seasons; because if it goes on for 9 or 10, then we'll see a REAL decline in quality. Debra finding out who Dexter is and struggling with how she feels for him probably has enough steam to carry all throughout S7, but I think that there probably will be a big bad, or a group of them. Without the 'big bad', Dexter will become a little to similar to a procedural police show.

What I hope is that they make the Big Bad, for once, sympathetic. Arthur and Brian, you could feel sorry for them to an extent, but they were ultimately people you felt needed to die. Maybe if Miami Metro is hunting anyone next season, should be a vigilante group that Dexter may end up finding himself helping. The theme of what justice really is and having a strict code to adhere by is a ripe topic to explore finally. Also, there are a plethora of other topics to explore: did Harry actually love Dexter or just use him? And if he did love Dex, did he love him more than Deb? If so, does that mean he was in love with Laura and not with his 'real' wife? Is Dexter or Harry to blame for what he became? Can Dexter's actions be justified; do the ends really justify the means? Is there any sort of redemption available for Dexter, and if so, is it through Deb?

    Lots of questions.

  6. There will be only 8 seasons according to Michael C. Hall. Try to keep up.

  7. Exactly why I said I HOPE MCH keeps his stance on Dexter only going eight seasons. Maybe you should read more closely, good sir.
