POLL: Do You Want Dexter Season 8 To Be the Final Season?
Few days ago at TCA 2012, Showtime President David Nevins said that there's a possibility for Dexter to continue beyond season 8. What do you think? Vote below!
i'm not really sure there are many more big triggers to pull now. he could get Jailed or go insane, but now that Debs knows its probably going to be difficult to find a bigger trigger to pull. I think 8 seasons is a good run.
I voted "No", but deep down I desire that Dexter never ends.
Unfortunately we know the risk you run to extend a series like Dexter, we see this by looking up the real life of serial killers, they were killed or caught.
I really wish that Dexter would last forever, but it is likely that extending the series, the script may fail, and the series go downhill. It's a risk. Dexter deserves close and high style.
Although I like the show and I'd like it to go on forever, I think the story can't be lengthened too much. It's like an elastic, if you pull it too much it backfires. I think 8 seasons is more than enough to properly conclude Dexter's story.
It is a high risk that the script just fails and we dont like it anymore , just like it happened by LOST! They screwed up too.. so 8 seasons should be fine , i think..
Lots of NO's. I voted No. Although I am fine if they do keep it 8 seasons and end it. I think it would be cool if it went longer somehow. I don't know how...if only Dexter imagined Deb seeing him....if only it was that easy.
it's a hard choice to make. as much as i would love to see dexter continue and continue, i would rather have a satisfying conclusion to the series (like lost) than to have it cancelled incomplet. i'm going to vote yes as the final season. as long as michael c. hall has something else lined up after this (6 feet under, sorry was horrible. acting was good but just too much man on man for me) then i'm good.
With only 12 episodes a year 8 years is kind of like only 4 seasons. There are no filler episodes that a lot of other shows have so I think there is a lot of story left to tell.
If Deb accepts Dex the way he is...maybe you can sqeeze a few more seasons. 10 for me is the magic number, by that time he has taught Harrisson the trade and the legacy could theoretically continue.
Putting aside the decisions of the producers, Showtime and others with money on the line, and giving consideration to the lives and careers of the outstanding cast, I vote to continue Dexter. "Fuck balls" as Deb might exclaim, the fact that she's in on the gig is just the beginning. Her character has been ever-evolving and now he has developed a step-incestuous love for non-blood blood brother. Let them do battle over Harry's Code and ultimately reach an epiphany which leaves the whole shabang completely unresolved with no idea what the future may hold for either character. Neither character will be permitted to die, that is obvious. However, there should be a final act in which they join forces in some new creative context. Perhaps Deb should develop her own Dark Passenger in cases for which the bad guy she pinned gets off scott-free (sp?) and, ultimately, Dexter takes the fall for Deb by setting himself up and she retains her freedom and power as no one believes she was the ultimate vigilante because Dexter framed himself when he saw the house of cards begin to fall. Yes, I am available to consult and/or write during the remaining years of the series, be it two or more. jwf4law@aol.com
Oh God! this is disaster I voted yes without reading completely actually I don't my Dexter to ever reach a finale... It can go on forever, my vote is NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
As much as I love Dexter I think two more seasons is enough. The show is already slipping in quality and hopefully with an end in sight the writers can tighten everything up and the quality will increase again
Doubt that is really you, because the president of Showtime would not be posting on Dextergr, I think there would be a better chance him posting on Showtime's site rather than on here but its still far fetched.
On Topic, I voted no because I would love it if they continued to season 10 as well. Too much time goes by between all the seasons so I think eight would not be enough.
Two more is plenty I think. Four classic seasons. Four new seasons. I just like the continuity of Clyde Phillips being showrunner in season 1-4. That's why I put the first four in a separate category from the newer seasons. It's still DEXTER, but it just doesn't feel the same as it used to.
Fuck no never end this show please or you will find yourself in a kill room of your own. Joke.. But don't ended on season 8 maybe another 2 more season please.
I would love to keep watching Dexter forever! It's the best serie ever... But, like almost everyone have been saying, there is the risk of losing quality and that would be even worst that end it successfully. I'll miss it, of course, but, who won't?

ReplyDeleteVoted yes. As much as I do enjoy the series, I fear that it will eventually decline in quality.

LOL @ David Nevins..they should continue it until season 25! Let's see exactly how crappy and redundant the show can get
