Dexter - Episode 5.10 ''In the Beginning'' - Recap

Recap: ''Sex, Lies and Videotape''. After last week's gasp-inducing final minutes -- when Jordan Chase all but declared war on Lumen and Dexter -- we knew something big was going to go down this week. Little did we know that episode 10's biggest moment would be less about Dexter and Lumen's destruction and more about the pair's union -- in the bedroom.

Dexter Predictions - Five people who might die by season end

Thanks to Mark for the heads up.
"This season of Dexter has been quite different from previous season for many reasons. The biggest change has been that there was not just one big bad guy meeting his end on the serial killers kill room.
After season four wrapped with the tragic murder of Rita Morgan, there was no way the story could just pick up as if nothing. There was going to have to be a gradual segue into “normalcy” which I feel the writers handled beautifully. Don’t get me wrong, I had tiny doubts along the way but when I look at the big picture, everything was calculated and necessary.
With only three episodes left, you KNOW more people will die, but who? We have picked out the people most probable to lose their life and why.

Episode 5.09 ''Teenage Wasteland" - Ratings on the Rise!

On this week's ratings of Dexter Episode 5.09 ''Teenage Wasteland'' was up at a 1.0/02 rating with adults 18-49 though it was UP over 171.000 viewers to 2.110 million!

Dexter - Episode 5.09 ''Teenage Wasteland" - Recap

We always knew there would be a time this season when Jonny Lee Miller's Jordan Chase would move out of "quiet looming threat" status into a full-fledged villain. At the end of episode 9, here we are -- has the color returned to anyone's knuckles yet? (Probably not.) But before we get into the tense note we ended on, let's return to the beginning of the episode -- a happier time.

Well, it was happier for Jordan, anyway. The same couldn't be said for Dexter, who was running in place alongside his then assumed (and eventually confirmed) foe for a private session that was all about revealing his feelings. Had he really done so, Dexter would have told Jordan that he was only there to collect enough evidence to justify killing him. I'm sure that wouldn't have been received well.

Interview: Julia Stiles talks about Dexter

The interview may contain spoilers. When we first saw her face, soot-covered and peering out like a Bedlam inmate from a tiny window of a locked door in the house of Dexter’s latest kill, Julia Stiles was almost unrecognizable. Is this deranged creature, Lumen Pierce, the same girl who handled Jason Bourne (the Bourne triology), updated Ophelia and Desdemona (Hamlet and O), and taught Heath Ledger about feminist punk rock (Ten Things I Hate About You)? As we move toward Dexter's season finale, we caught up with Stiles to discuss Lumen Pierce in all her injured, demented, calculating glory.

Julia Stiles Promises "Dramatic" Season 5 Ending

Life has been twisted, dark and miserable lately for Lumen Pierce (Julia Stiles), which makes her an absolutely perfect fit for Dexter this season. She's been raped, exploited and whipped so badly even Stiles felt the pain. As the actress known for her work in the Bourne movies says, "I forgot to take off my prosthetic slash marks one night and I suddenly went, 'Wait. What happened to me?'"

The bigger question is what's happening to Lumen? Ever since Dexter (Michael C. Hall) rescued her from that serial killer's creepy lockup, Lumen's been a bit of a Dexter wannabe. She wants to kill the people who've brutalized her, which in turn puts Dexter in the odd position of trying to stop murders. "Lumen walks that fine line that's so cool on this show, between doing the right thing and doing the right thing that's sorta the wrong thing," says Stiles, who adds she feels the thrall of the Dexter "community" after only a few guest appearances. "My friends who are crazy about the show are really crazy about the show," she laughs.

Here's what's really crazy: how much we've enjoyed watching Stiles play a pawn in a human-trafficking scheme. Which side wins? The actress isn't telling: "I think we'll see a dramatic ending."

The Executive Producer of Dexter, Chip Johannessen talks about episode 5.08 ''Take It!".

New Interview with Julie Benz on E!Online

Julie Benz talked on E!Online about the show she stars, No Ordinary Family, and Dexter.
"As for her previous gig on Dexter, Julie says she has no plans to return.
"I think my time with them is over," Julie says. "I mean it was shocking to me at the time. And I had to go back to help them clean it up in the very beginning of the season. [Laughs.] Had to get back in that bathtub. In retrospect it definitely, it's been a year since my character's death, I would have to say it was probably the right thing to do. I've only watched a couple of episodes so far and I think it's interesting, you know they changed showrunners and so it's a different style this season. But I think it's still very interesting and very shocking. I hear the ending is another good one!"
Julie's also still hanging out with her Dexter family. "I'm friends with all of them. You know, I hang out with Jennifer a lot and I just saw C.S. over the weekend. So I know what's going on, I hear about it. We were a very close family over there so I feel very lucky to have had that experience and still have those people in my life."

Dexter - New Season 5 Spoilers from Chip Johannessen

Thanks to TVovermind for the heads up. Chip Johannessen, last Friday, spilled the beans on some ‘rest of season’ Dexter happenings. Since he did the bloodletting before this past Sunday’s new episode, “Take it!”, I thought it’d be interesting to see just how obtuse the first-year show runner could be with his ruminations on the remainder of the season. Be warned, there be spoilers for the most recent episode in this article.

Dexter - Episode 5.08 ''Take It!'' - Recap

From the moment Jordan Chase and his caveman Cole came into the picture, we knew it was only a matter of time until Dexter would have to infiltrate the fanatical world of motivational speaking. Going against his primal instinct (which is, of course, to stay away from people who are crazier than himself) Dexter took the plunge this week and attended his first Jordan Chase seminar/convention of incredibly disturbing individuals. But it was all in the name of research for a job -- which in this case was the mission to kill Cole.
Dexter wasn't the only one out for blood in this episode, though. From the media to the mayor, people were looking for a scapegoat in the nightclub shootout from last week. LaGuerta was hard at work keeping up her bitch shield in order to avoid being blamed for the crapfest. As she threatened the squad with consequences, the team's eyes fell on Batista, who was going to write up the report that either sent one of them to be crucified or stated the truth: LaGuerta was at fault.

Dexter - Episode 5.07 ''Circle Us'' - Recap

"Sometimes partners find us, and as much as we try to push them away, they work their way into our lives, regardless -- until we finally realize how much we need them."
Dexter's assessment of Lumen as she played with Harrison last night parallels my own conflicted feelings about the character in question. Admittedly, I haven't been Lumen's biggest fan, but the show's latest installment allowed me to see function to Lumen's story beyond being a pebble in Dexter's shoe. Meanwhile, Dexter realized he might have found something he once believed to be unfeasible: a relatively sane person on whom he could depend, both as a killer and as a man (relatively sane = NOT Miguel Prado).

An interview with Dexter composer Daniel Licht

Read on, a new inteview of the Dexter composer, Daniel Licht.

Do you find it challenging to broaden the sound palette of DEXTER season-to-season, with the show being locked into one locale?
There’s always something going on where I can branch the music out – new characters, situations. There’s lots of new stuff in this season. I don’t really have any trouble with that. There are DEXTER themes that come back, and I sometimes try to retool them a bit while staying true to their original nature. There are always going to be new textures.

Dexter - Episode 5.06 "Everything Is Illumenated" - Recap

When we opened tonight's proceedings, Dexter had thought his Lumen problem was over, especially after he hand-delivered her to the airport. Our protagonist had gotten on with his life. He was almost done boxing up his old life with Rita, preparing to settle down back in the apartment (only after Deb insisted he take it back), and excited about getting back to a "manageable" life, which included his now-talking son (first word: bye bye…or die die). He was even back on the hunt. His latest target was a sicko who had been soliciting men online and killing them. Dexter seemed at home on this hunt; it was supposed to be a by-the-book kill. Thanks to Lumen, that changed very quickly.
