A Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Episode Is Landing Right in GTA 6's Blast Radius

The highly anticipated video game arrives just one day before the next episode of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 becomes available to stream.

The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is releasing new episodes weekly on Paramount+, but one upcoming episode is about to face some unexpected competition. Episode 4 is set to arrive just 24 hours after the official release of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is the most highly anticipated video games of all time.

With GTA 6 finally approaching its release after years of anticipation, millions of players are getting ready to spend as much time as possible exploring Rockstar's new and improved version of Vice City. And that puts Dexter: Resurrection in an interesting position, as its fourth episode will arrive right when many fans could be fully invested in the game.

But there's actually one question worth asking.

Could GTA 6 Affect Dexter: Resurrection's Viewership?

The internet has already been having fun with the idea of people even giving up their jobs just to dedicate their time to Grand Theft Auto VI.

The memes have been everywhere, and they make us wonder whether fans will be able to split their time between the two releases or whether GTA 6 could actually take a bite out of Dexter: Resurrection's viewership.

It's possible that some fans will put Episode 4, along with other shows and movies, aside to focus on the game itself. That's obviously not something Paramount+ or the people involved with the series would want, but given the enormous attention surrounding GTA 6, it's a possibility worth considering.

The good thing for Dexter: Resurrection, however, is that not everyone is interested in playing the new game. So while the timing could be a challenge, it doesn't necessarily mean that the series will lose a significant number of viewers.

GTA 6 Actually Has a Special Connection to Dexter

Of course, the game itself gives Dexter fans another reason to pay attention. GTA 6 takes place in Vice City, Rockstar's fictional version of Miami, which is also the city where the original Dexter series took place for all eight seasons.

And the connection actually goes beyond the setting. Extended gameplay footage recently revealed that Rockstar is including the building that served as Dexter Morgan's apartment complex in the OG series, as it was reported by many media outlets back in August.

This is definitely an exciting detail for fans, and it makes us wonder how many other Dexter easter eggs Rockstar might have included throughout the game. After all, if the apartment building made it into GTA 6, there could be more familiar little things and references waiting to be discovered.

Yes, Dexter and GTA Have Actually Crossed Paths Before

This is not the first time Dexter and Grand Theft Auto have had major releases so close to each other.

Back in 2013, Grand Theft Auto V was released on September 17, just two days after the penultimate episode of the original Dexter series and five days before its notorious lumberjack finale.

Now, more than a decade later, the two franchises are once again crossing paths, with their latest chapters arriving just days apart, which is definitely something exciting.

The difference is that this time, fans might have a difficult choice to make: spend their time exploring Vice City, Leonida or catching up with Dexter Morgan on Paramount+.
