Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 has already delivered some seriously exciting moments, and its second episode, “Fallen,” might be one of the most eventful episodes the series has given us since Season 1 began. And that's actually saying something, considering the competition.

We're still very early in the season, but “Fallen” had almost everything. While it didn't include a classic Dexter kill scene, it made up for that with two major reunions, nostalgic callbacks, Easter eggs, humor, and some fantastic performances. It was also an episode that set the stage for some of the things still to come.

That's why put together a ranking of the 10 biggest moments from Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Episode 2. And honestly, choosing just 10 wasn't easy. Not only was the episode, written by Scott Buck, nearly an hour long, but it was also packed with memorable scenes and smaller details that Dexter fans will actually appreciate.

We've gathered what we consider the most significant moments and ranked them below. Let's get into it!

10. The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger makes his debut

One of the new antagonists Dexter will have to deal with in the upcoming episodes of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 finally made his debut in “Fallen.”

His real name is Ray Ballard, as Charley reveals, and he has been keeping a low profile ever since Leon Prater was exposed to the public. He's also careful about covering his tracks online, even using encryption when browsing the internet.

We first see him after the serial killer, known to the public as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, receives an email from Charley. She's actually pretending that Prater has invited him to one of his gatherings, giving Ballard a reason to show up. The scene then cuts to him breaking into a family's home, offering a disturbing first look at his method of operation.

All of this takes place while Nine Inch Nails' “The Day the World Went Away” plays in the background, making his introduction even more unsettling.

9. Dexter and the New York Ripper meet at a strip club

The second episode also gave us the first-ever face-to-face meeting between Dexter and Don Framt, better known as the New York Ripper.

Ironically, the two cross paths at a local strip club in the middle of the day, one of Framt's favorite places to spend his time! Their conversation doesn't take long to become one of the episode's highlights, with Dexter carefully trying to get a read on Framt and confirm whether he's really the Ripper.

The scene also gives Brian Cox another opportunity to show just how perfectly he fits the role. His performance is fantastic, and the comedic element makes the entire interaction even more entertaining.

It is also a reminder of something the OG Dexter series did particularly well. The franchise has never been afraid to mix dark humor with some rather... adult scenes, and this moment actually brings back a little of that energy.

8. Dexter and Harrison negotiate over the New York Ripper

One scene that definitely stands out, and could easily have ranked higher in a less eventful episode, takes place during Dexter's visit to Harrison's new apartment.

The interaction between the two feels natural, like a genuine father-and-son moment. But, as you'd expect, things eventually take a very Dexter-like turn.

Their conversation shifts to the New York Ripper, with Dexter openly telling Harrison that he wants to kill Don Framt. Harrison is completely against the idea, arguing that the case belongs to Detective Claudette Wallace, who has spent 23 years trying to solve it.

Both Michael C. Hall and Jack Alcott do an excellent job of showing the different ways Dexter and Harrison see the situation, while also reminding us that their relationship is still far from simple.

7. Charley returns to Dexter and Harrison's lives

Another important moment comes relatively early in the episode, when Charley makes her return to Dexter and Harrison's lives. She interrupts the two while they're having breakfast at the familiar spot they tend to visit in Brooklyn. After Harrison leaves, Charley and Dexter finally get some time to talk.

She reassures Dexter that she's approaching him with good intentions and explains that she's trying to redeem herself after everything that happened because of her mother. It takes a little convincing, but she eventually manages to get Dexter to hear her out.

Their conversation is definitely important because it establishes where things stand between the two characters moving forward. Charley wants a chance to make things right, while Dexter actually has plenty of reasons to remain suspicious. Still, there's clearly something to gain from working together.

6. Dexter makes it clear that Charley is “the middle of this”

The episode gives us another great interaction between Dexter and Charley during their time out in the Broadway area. While the two spend time together on consecutive nights, their first evening out delivers one of their most meaningful conversations.

Dexter makes it very clear what he wants from their new arrangement and, more importantly, establishes his own rules for how things are going to work.

Uma Thurman's performance is fantastic here. Her facial expressions alone tell us plenty as Dexter actually tries to get his point across, and the tension between the two makes the scene even more entertaining.

At this point, Dexter seems to have the upper hand in their arrangement. When Charley explains that she doesn't want to get tangled up in a situation involving the elimination of serial killers, Dexter reminds her that she's already “the middle of this.”

In other words, their entire deal is happening because of her in the first place. And Dexter isn't about to let her forget it.

5. Charley shows Dexter where they'll lure the serial killers

Another great moment involving Dexter and Charley takes place inside the New York apartment building she has rented for their fake serial killer gatherings.

She gives Dexter a tour of the place, showing him the different rooms and explaining Ray Ballard's disturbing M.O. It's her way of making sure Dexter understands exactly what kind of monster he'll be dealing with once their plan gets underway.

4. Dexter witnesses the Five Borough Killer's second murder

The final scene of “Fallen” definitely deserves a place in the top five. In fact, it could have ranked even higher if the episode hadn't included two other moments that seemed even more significant.

Dexter unexpectedly finds himself just a few feet away when the Five Borough Killer carries out his second murder. He also gets a look at the killer on the rooftop, something that will actually him in a position he didn't expect to find himself in. But the most important detail is that Lucas Stark sees Dexter, too.

Both men now know what the other looks like, setting up a dangerous game of cat and mouse that could have major consequences for the rest of the season. It's a very strong way to end the episode, especially considering what this encounter could mean for Dexter going forward.

3. Slice of Life...Too!

The nostalgic introduction of Dexter's new boat absolutely deserves a place in the top three. It's one of those moments that we're sure that brought an instant smile to longtime fans watching Episode 2.

As we explained in a previous article, Slice of Life is back, this time under the name “Slice of Life Too.” The return follows Dexter's request for a new vessel that will allow him to dispose of his victims in the Hudson River.

Harry's appearance in this scene makes the moment an even better callback to the OG series, where the boat played such a memorable part in Dexter's life in Miami. Seeing this piece of his past return in a new form is actually a great touch, that fans will definitely appreciate.

2. Dexter and Quinn reunite for the first time in 13 years

Early in the episode, while Dexter is spending the night in his basement apartment, someone knocks on his door. Assuming it's simply Blessing from upstairs, Dexter opens it without much hesitation. But he's in for quite a surprise when he finds Joey Quinn standing on the other side.

The confusion on Dexter's face says it all. Quinn, meanwhile, immediately gives his former colleague a hug, clearly happy to see him after all these years and relieved to discover that he's actually alive.

Dexter invites him inside, but Quinn suggests they head to a bar instead And as it turns out, their conversation at the bar would become the biggest moment of the entire episode.

Honestly, it was impossible for this scene not to take the top spot.

The last time Dexter and Quinn shared a room was in the Season 8 finale, inside the Miami Metro interrogation room. Dexter had just killed Oliver Saxon with a pen, and Quinn defended him by insisting that it was obviously self-defense, helping justify what Dexter had done.

Thirteen years later, the circumstances are totally different. This time, the two finally get the chance to catch up, and their conversation touches on some pretty significant events from Dexter's past, but not all of them. They discuss Batista's belief that Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher, something Quinn finds... absolutely crazy!

The conversation then moves to Leon Prater, which is actually the reason Quinn resigned from his position as a lieutenant at Miami Metro. He's now working as a private investigator, helping families who lost loved ones to serial killers connected to Prater.

Of course, the scene isn't all serious conversation. There's also plenty of humor, specifically when Quinn tries to hit on the bar's waitress, with her reaction being wonderfully natural.

What makes this reunion interesting is that Dexter and Quinn were never exactly the best of friends. They shared just four years of history at Miami Metro, but their relationship was complicated most of the times. Seeing them sit down and talk so casually after everything that's happened feels kind of weird, but also makes the moment satisfying.

It's a fantastic scene, and easily the highlight of “Fallen.”

So, there you have it! Those are our picks for the 10 biggest moments from Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Episode 2, “Fallen.” With two episodes already behind us, the season is off to a pretty exciting start, and there's a lot to look forward to as the story continues to unfold.

Which moments were your favorites? And would you have ranked any of these differently? Let us know in the comments.
