Ever since Harrison Morgan (played by Jack Alcott) was reintroduced to the audiences in Dexter: New Blood back in 2021, the team behind the franchise made it clear that Dexter's son is here to stay. That has become even more obvious with Dexter: Resurrection, especially now that Season 2 is on the way.
This time, however, the show is actually taking things a step further. After spending Season 1 as a homeless bellhop, Harrison is now set to join the NYPD.
But how old is Dexter's son supposed to be for that to happen already?
How Old Is Harrison Morgan in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2?
We can confirm that Harrison Morgan will be 21 years old in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. That's no random number, as 21 is the minimum age required to be appointed as an NYPD police officer.
The second season features a time jump of around three to four years. As showrunner Clyde Phillips recently explained, this helps move Harrison's life forward and ages him enough to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Of course, if you're looking at the numbers and thinking they don't quite add up, you're not alone. The Dexter timeline has never been perfectly consistent when it comes to Harrison's age. It's also a familiar TV trope, particularly in soap operas, where children are suddenly aged up so they can take on bigger roles in the story. This is actually something that we recently discussed here at Dexter Daily.
Harrison's Age Has Changed Throughout the Dexter Timeline
Looking back at the original series, Harrison was born in 2009, just a few months before the events of Season 4. By the Season 5 finale, he was celebrating his first birthday. However, by the end of Season 8, whose events took place around mid-2012, he was already portrayed as nearly five years old, with his recasting between Seasons 7 and 8 also contributing to the change.
When Dexter returned with New Blood in 2021, Harrison was 16. Then came Dexter: Resurrection Season 1, where he was nearly 18, even though only ten weeks had passed since the events of New Blood. Writer and EP Scott Reynolds confirmed Harrison's age last year.
Now, with the events of Season 2 moving forward to June 2026, Harrison is officially 21.
Some fans might find the timeline messy, and that's understandable. Based strictly on his 2009 birth year, Harrison should be around 17 in 2026. But the franchise has already taken liberties with his age, and this latest time jump actually allows the writers to take his story in a new direction.
Honestly, the numbers might not be perfect, but the reasoning makes sense. What matters most is how Harrison's new role affects his relationship with Dexter and the story ahead. Seeing him go from a troubled teenager to an NYPD officer opens up tons of exciting possibilities for Season 2.
