Dexter: Resurrection has quietly added another surprising celebrity to its cast, with the bassist of a legendary band set to appear. Get the details on his role.
It is a special day for Dexter fans, as Paramount finally released 10 first-look images from various episodes of the upcoming second season of Dexter: Resurrection.
Among them was one still that didn't really take long to catch the attention of heavy metal fans. It actually revealed that System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian has secretly joined the cast of Season 2.
Although details about his role are still limited, the 52-year-old musician's involvement had been kept completely under wraps until now. Odadjian will play a character named R.H. Martin, and judging by the newly released promotional image, he's definitely one of the season's villains.
Even more interesting, Odadjian is set to appear in the very first episode of Season 2. And if the official still is anything to go by, it will not take long before he ends up wrapped in plastic on Dexter's kill table.
Shavo Odadjian isn't the only unexpected addition to the cast this season. Chris Jericho and Kane Hodder are two other well-known names who have joined Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, and will likely have a very similar role.
Based on everything we've seen so far, all three appear to be part of the same episode, and possibly even the same scene.
At the moment, very little is known about R.H. Martin. However, we're fairly confident he'll be one of the serial killers from Leon Prater's files that Dexter took with him at the end of Season 1. Those files contained precious information on killers Prater had secretly supported and funded over the years.
Marcos Siega and Shavo Odadjian Reunite After 24 Years
Shavo Odadjian's casting doesn't appear to be random at all.
Episode 1 director Marcos Siega has a long history with System of a Down. More than 20 years ago, he directed the band's iconic "Chop Suey!" music video in 2001. A year later, he co-directed the video for "Toxicity" alongside Odadjian himself.
Now, 24 years later, the two have reunited for a very different project!
Siega even shared the official Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 still featuring Odadjian on social media, surprising many of the bassist's more than one million followers and creating a lot of excitement around his very unexpected casting.
