First Photos of Desmond Harrington as Joey Quinn on the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Set — Is He in Miami or New York?

The beloved actor was spotted on the Season 2 set, but are these scenes he was shooting set in Miami or NYC?

One of the original characters officially confirmed to return in Season 2 that fans hadn’t seen filming in New York City until now was Joey Quinn, played by Desmond Harrington. But that has finally changed.

On May 18, Harrington was spotted filming scenes in Downtown Manhattan, marking the first time photographer Jose Perez/Bauer-Griffin captured the actor on the set of the series. Of course, this wasn’t his first day of shooting, as reports of him being around the production have surfaced for weeks.

In the photos, Harrington appears alone, surrounded only by crew members and background extras and without any other familiar cast members nearby. But... are these scenes set in Miami or New York City?

While the obvious answer would be NYC since the show is filming there, Season 1 already proved that some Miami scenes involving Quinn or Masuka were actually shot in the heart of Manhattan and the background was made this way to resemble Miami on screen.

Still, there seems to be a huge clue this time that Lieutenant Joseph Quinn is no longer in Miami. Just like his late friend and colleague Angel Batista, Quinn may now be heading to New York City.

Aside from the blurry but still visible “NYC” signage behind Harrington, his wardrobe also seems to hint at the location change.

The actor was wearing a black lightweight jacket with black straight-leg trousers, and matching sneakers, a look that is actually very different from Quinn’s usual style in the OG series. While this might considered a small detail, it definitely signals that Quinn is adapting to a completely new environment, just like every other character.

At certain moments during filming, Harrington was also seen speaking on his phone, although it’s not confirmed whether he was performing a scene in character or simply talking between takes. As for Quinn’s hairstyle which changed many times through the series, it appears the character will be bringing back very similar haircut to the one he had during Dexter Season 6 back in 2011.

Everything so far points to Quinn following a similar path to Batista by traveling to the Big Apple for a... personal mission. With the confirmed time jump between Seasons 1 and 2, it’s still impossible to know whether Quinn’s move to New York is actually connected to Dexter Morgan or tied to Batista’s search for justice.

And we are saying this, because Season 1 made it clear that Batista was the only person who knew Dexter was alive, and he never shared that information with his former friends, colleagues, or family members.

Now that Quinn appears to be in New York City as well, things are definitely getting even more interesting. And with his true motives still unknown, there are plenty of new theories to actually work with.
