With a brief update on Friday, Marcos Siega revealed it was the “last day of prep” for the second season.
After months of intense work behind the scenes of Dexter: Resurrection, the series is officially wrapping up pre-production and moving into its biggest phase yet, which of course is filming. The writers’ room first opened on October 6, 2025, kicking off a long creative process that has now fully wrapped, with all scripts completed and production plans in place.
Filming is officially set to begin on Monday, April 13 and what’s actually interesting is that this is the same date showrunner Clyde Phillips originally announced back in October, and it never changed. That consistency definitely shows how well-organized and steady the production has been from the start.
A big part of that effort comes from Marcos Siega, who is both directing and executive producing. On Friday, Siega shared an Instagram story featuring a selfie alongside Clyde Phillips and writer/executive producer Scott Reynolds, taken inside the production offices in New York City.
The photo marked the final day of pre-production, and you could tell from their expressions that everything had come together right on schedule.
“It’s been a great prep. I’m so ready to start shooting,” Siega wrote in his post.
In the background of the image, a board could be seen, potentially filled with key story beats from Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. Siega made sure to blur out everything written on the cards for...obvious reasons. Even if he hadn’t, Instagram’s compression would’ve made it nearly impossible to read anything clearly, but still, better safe than sorry!
The final days of prep also came with plenty of teases from Scott Reynolds who took to X to share several behind-the-scenes photos, giving his followers a small glimpse into the production process. Some of these shots were about the location scouting across New York City, which will play a big role in shaping the atmosphere of the season.

At one point during the week, Dominic Fumusa, who plays Detective Melvin Oliva, stopped by the production offices. Reynolds captured the moment with a selfie alongside Fumusa and Clyde Phillips.
He also shared a shot of a golf cart featuring the Dexter: Resurrection logo on the front. This is something that with no doubt come in handy for quickly transporting cast members across filming locations.
And of course, this being Dexter, Reynolds couldn’t resist teasing what’s to come in the most spoiler-free way possible. One of his posts actually showed “room essentials,” hinting at upcoming kill scenes. The image included props like pipettes, a tool used during Dexter’s ritual when he collects blood samples from his victims after making that precise cut with his scalpel.
With filming about to begin, this next phase is a big step for both the team and of course us fans. Now, attention actually turns to the first set photos, which should give an early look at what’s coming in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2!
