We finally have our first look at Don Framt, the New York Ripper, on the set of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.
For the past couple of weeks, one of the most talked-about characters from Dexter: Resurrection Season 1, The New York Ripper, finally has a face. After months of fan theories about who the killer really is, it’s now confirmed that Brian Cox, a brand-new addition to the series, will be playing him.
The casting created some mixed reactions at first, though most fans seem to be leaning positive. Now that we are officially on week 1 of filming for Season 2, Cox has joined the rest of the cast on set. And since some scenes are being shot outdoors, we finally have our first unofficial look at him in character as Don Framt, aka the New York Ripper!
Fair warning, the rest of this article contains spoilers and spoilery set photos.
On Thursday, April 16, Brian Cox was spotted in Manhattan alongside cast and crew, filming a scene for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. This marks the very first time we’re actually seeing the New York Ripper on screen, with several high-resolution images by Jose Perez/Bauer-Griffin revealing key details about his physical condition.
Cox’s character appears to be using an electric wheelchair, which actually lines up with ongoing fan theories about why the Ripper is no longer active. He’s sporting a mustache, with messy hair, and is dressed in wide black jeans and a dark blue collared shirt noticeably stained with food, which adds to the character’s worn-down look.
In the photos, Cox is seen interacting mostly with crew members, but in the scene itself, Don Framt shares a moment with a woman in her 20s, potentially a stripper. The actress has been identified as Jessica Taylor, and filming took place outside a Manhattan strip club that the New York Ripper appears to visit.
One interesting detail comes from a visible director’s clapper on set, which suggests that these scenes are actually from Episode 2, and not Episode 1, even though production has only just begun. That might sound odd at first, but it happens quite often in TV production, where scheduling and location availability often mean that some scenes have to be shot out of order.
