New York Ripper Gets Official Description After Brian Cox Casting in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

The casting announcement for the actor portraying the notorious serial killer was accompanied by an official character description.

The most talked-about character from Season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection finally has a face, and a big name behind it. Brian Cox has officially been cast as the New York Ripper, who is actually set to serve as the central antagonist in Season 2.

The news broke early Thursday morning through an official press release from Paramount+, which welcomed Cox into the Dexter family. Along with the casting reveal, the release also included the first official description of the character, who was confirmed to be named Don Framt, something we actually picked up on in the Season 1 finale.

Here’s the character description provided in the press release:

The New York Ripper is a serial killer who terrorized the City years ago. Though no longer active as a killer, he’s found a new way to live in his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago murder spree.”

What makes this description especially interesting is how closely it matches what Claudette Wallace revealed back in Episode 7, “Course Correction.” During her Collings University presentation scene, where both Dexter and Harrison were in attendance, Wallace laid out a profile that now appears to be incredibly accurate.

Based on that description, and factoring in Cox’s real-life age (79), Don Framt is shaping up to be a deeply troubled individual, possibly living in isolation, and perhaps without any family ties. There’s also the question of why the New York Ripper stopped killing in the first place, something that will likely be addressed soon after his on-screen introduction. His physical condition alone may offer some clues, but everything is open at this point.

What is already pretty obvious is that the New York Ripper will be among the oldest (if not the oldest) adversaries Dexter has ever faced. Age, however, doesn’t seem to make him any less dangerous. If anything, everything that was suggested in the character description actually points to a sadistic and very calculated threat.
