“You’re Not Ready!”: Dexter: Resurrection Star ‘In Awe’ of Season 2 Scripts

Co-star Dominic Fumusa finally got his hands on the Season 2 scripts, and was completely blown away by what he read.

Michael C. Hall is gearing up to return to the most iconic role of his career, as Dexter: Resurrection gets closer to production on its second season. Alongside him, much of the main cast from Season 1 is expected to return, showing the story will continue in a consistent way.

From everything that was revealed so far, the majority of the main characters introduced in the first season are already set to reprise their roles.

With fewer than 20 days to go before filming begins, scripts for Season 2 are now complete and have been distributed to the cast. This actually lets both main and select guest actors (some of whom remain under wraps) get a first look at the direction of the new season and, of course, how their characters evolve.

Among those returning is Dominic Fumusa, who debuted in the series premiere as NYPD Detective Melvin Oliva. Teaming up with Claudette Wallace, Oliva actually established himself as a capable investigator, and his dynamic with his unusual partner has become both memorable and funny.

The 56-year-old actor took to Instagram earlier today to share his excitement after receiving the new scripts. While avoiding spoilers for obvious reasons, his reaction has actually created an even greater anticipation among fans.

“Here’s all I’ll say,” Fumusa shared. “I’ve started reading the new scripts for Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection, and I am in awe of every writer who has figured out a way to blow your minds in every episode. You are not ready!”

Of course, his comments quickly excited fans and cast members alike. While enthusiastic reactions from actors are nothing new, this one actually carries extra weight because of how well Season 1 was received. The revival has gone beyond expectations, delivering a continuation worthy of an original series often seen as one of the greatest ever.

The buzz didn’t really stop there. Executive producer and director Marcos Siega also teased fans via Instagram. He shared a behind-the-scenes photo with showrunner Clyde Phillips, taken at the brand-new Sunset Pier 94 Studios in New York City, a facility that Dexter: Resurrection has leased as its first production.

Accompanying the image was a countdown to the start of filming, along with the caption: “Breaking bread and prepping the new season of Dexter, with the great Clyde Phillips.” Siega is also set to direct the premiere episode of Season 2.

Interestingly, the phrase “breaking bread” led to some playful reactions from fans, with a few wondering if it hints at a connection to Breaking Bad and a possible role from Bryan Cranston, something that had been rumored months ago.

As production gets closer, the updates around Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 are only going to increase. Expect casting news, behind-the-scenes pics, and story hints in the days ahead, so stay tuned here on Dexter Daily!
