A brand-new post-mortem featurette has arrived, diving deep into the final episode.
The long-awaited finale of Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 has finally arrived, and fans are still reeling—not only from the shocking season-ending twists, but also from the heartbreak of “Touched by an Ángel,” the episode that marked the devastating final appearance of beloved character Angel Batista.
Episode 10, titled “And Justice for All…”, delivered a tense, emotional, and nostalgia-filled conclusion that paid tribute to the show’s legacy while setting up new possibilities for the future. True to Dexter tradition, the finale centered around one last kill—but this time with a twist that made it even more unforgettable.
Dexter’s Sacrifice for Harrison
In Showtime’s final Resurrection post-mortem featurette of 2025, showrunner Clyde Phillips reflected on the climactic standoff:
“Dexter basically says, take me. I keep going back to father and son. It’s Dexter willing to take a bullet to save his child and absolve Harrison of anything he thinks is wrong. Dexter understands that Harrison is not destined to be a serial killer—in fact, he’s destined for great things.”
Actor Jack Alcott added insight into the emotional father-son reunion:
“We reunite and have this wonderful father-son moment, which was kinda overdue. Then there’s this realization that Dexter’s slumped over, and I’m like, what are we gonna do with him? And Dexter just says, we’re not doing anything. You’re leaving. It was so close—maybe further down the road, that’s a great scene.”
Michael C. Hall on Dexter and Harrison’s Relationship
Michael C. Hall himself highlighted the emotional core of the finale:
“I think Harrison and Dexter, at the end of the season, have a relationship they both longed for—something beyond anything they could’ve imagined. Dexter revealed who he really is, and his son didn’t reject him. Harrison hasn’t been held to some impossible standard of who he should be, and that’s powerful.”
Phillips also emphasized Harrison’s unique path:
“He has the obligation and the training he needs to take out people who are gonna kill other people.”
And Hall further reflected on Dexter’s flawed but undeniable legacy:
“He’s suffered, and the people in his world have suffered, because of how he’s played fast and loose with the code. But he’s still meant to be here, still meant to be doing what he’s doing.”
A Finale That Feels Like a Beginning
Fans may still be grieving the loss of Angel Batista, but the finale leaves us with an enduring image: Dexter choosing his son over himself, and Harrison stepping into a future that could rewrite the Morgan legacy.
