At the Paramount+ lodge at San Diego Comic-Con fans had the opportunity to dive into Prater's chilling vault.
Another exciting San Diego Comic-Con wrapped up on Sunday, and once again, lucky attendees were treated to unforgettable moments from their favorite franchises. One standout this year was undeniably Dexter: Resurrection, which had a major presence—not only through its much-anticipated panel discussion, but also with a chilling and immersive fan activation at the Paramount+ Lodge. From exclusive reveals to life-size replicas, the Dexter experience was a must-see for fans and a true highlight of Comic-Con 2025.
The Paramount+ Lodge has become a staple at major fan events over the years, showcasing immersive experiences tied to its most popular shows. This year at Comic-Con 2025, one activation stole the spotlight—an incredible life-size replica of Leon Prater’s vault from Dexter: Resurrection.
Of course, Dexter, Showtime’s crown jewel and one of the most iconic crime dramas of all time, had to be front and center—especially with the new season, Dexter: Resurrection, currently airing.
A Fan Experience Straight Out of the Show
This fan activation was not only thrilling—it was incredibly timely. The setup was directly inspired by Episode 4, “Call Me Red,” which had just been released. In fact, the vault replica was open to fans starting Thursday, a full day before the episode's release—possibly a spoiler, but one that fans were absolutely thrilled about.
From the moment fans stepped inside the faux rocky entrance—designed to mimic Prater’s hidden vault in his mansion—they were immersed in a chilling, yet exciting, walkthrough filled with carefully curated items from both the Dexter universe and real-life crime history. While the number of items wasn't as extensive as Prater’s in the show, the attention to detail more than made up for it.
Special thanks to our friends at Who Let Us Out, who were at Comic-Con this weekend and sent us exclusive photos from the Paramount+ Lodge exhibit. Keep scrolling to see the chillingly accurate replicas, complete with context and descriptions.
1. Charles Manson’s Guitar
Not the actual instrument used by the infamous cult leader, but a nearly identical one found and used by the show’s props team for authenticity.
2. Travis Marshall’s Sword
The very weapon Travis threatened young Harrison with in the Dexter Season 6 finale—before Dexter turned the blade on him. Below it sits a replica item associated with real-life killer Richard Ramirez, aka the Night Stalker.
3. Trinity Killer’s Hammer
One of Dexter’s most iconic murder weapons—used by Arthur Mitchell, aka the Trinity Killer. This hammer made a chilling return in Episode 4, triggering goosebumps for longtime fans.
4. Trophies of the Dark Passenger, Gemini, and Lady Vengeance
Spoiler alert! This display includes known trophies from Red and Mia, but also unveils previously unseen Gareth (the Gemini Killer) trophies. Gareth takes polaroid photos of his victims before—and after—his gruesome crimes, a harrowing insight into his twisted mind.
5. Anthony Sowell's Personal Items
Known as the Cleveland Strangler, this real-life serial killer's items included a chilling display of his iconic mask, glasses, and rope.
6. Joseph DeAngelo Trophies
The Golden State Killer is represented through a selection of seemingly mundane items—like teacups—that carry dark associations from his crimes.
7. Harold Shipman’s Tools
Better known as Dr. Death, Shipman's medical instruments were eerily on display, highlighting one of the most prolific serial killers in modern history.
Final Thoughts
The team behind Dexter: Resurrection has truly gone above and beyond in promoting the series. This vault replica and the entire Paramount+ Lodge experience showcase a deep respect for the show’s legacy and its fans. Whether you're a new viewer or a longtime follower, it's impossible not to appreciate the craft, detail, and eerie excitement packed into this unforgettable activation.
