Dexter is back—and of course, he's up to his old ways.
Warning: The article contains spoilers.
After months of anticipation, fans finally got their first official glimpse of Dexter: Resurrection on Tuesday, as 11 brand-new stills from various episodes of Season 1 were released. Yes, we’re calling it Season 1—because according to showrunner Clyde Phillips and star Michael C. Hall, the revival is set to have multiple seasons. The release of these stills strongly hints that the first teaser trailer is just around the corner—and it’s officially dropping later this month.
The newly unveiled promotional photos offer a tantalizing preview of both new and returning characters. But one image in particular sparked intense fan speculation. It shows America's favorite serial killer, Dexter Morgan, in a highly emotional moment—angrily shouting while staring down at something off-screen. He’s donning a pair of black gloves and a familiar-colored T-shirt often associated with his infamous kill room ritual.
Yes, that’s right—Dexter is officially back to his murderous ways in Dexter: Resurrection. While it’s no surprise that Dexter’s return means the return of his dark passenger, one key detail in the image may have revealed the identity of one of his first victims in the highly anticipated sequel series.
Spoiler Alert: Who's Wrapped in Plastic?
Zooming in on the image, a few facial features of the body wrapped in plastic can be made out—just enough for a sharp-eyed fan to make a strong guess. Based on those features, we believe the victim is none other than Marc Menchaca, who plays a new character named Red:
Menchaca was spotted multiple times during on-location filming for Episodes 2 and 3 earlier this year. In fact, back in February, several set photos surfaced showing the actor in character. On Monday, it was officially confirmed that Marc Menchaca is part of the Dexter: Resurrection guest cast, and his character’s name—Red—was revealed as well.
While much about Red’s role remains under wraps, fans who have been closely following our Dexter: Resurrection set coverage might already have a few theories about his arc—and possibly, why Dexter targets him.
Dexter’s Dark Passenger Lives On
It’s clear that alongside Dexter Morgan, his dark passenger is very much alive—and let’s be honest, Dexter just wouldn’t be Dexter without the kill room, plastic wrap, and a few well-placed drops of blood.
