A one-week Hiatus is coming soon for Dexter: Original Sin!
Surprise! Showtime and Paramount+ have officially confirmed that not one, but two episodes of Dexter: Original Sin will drop this Friday, December 20, 2024. Fans can look forward to Episode 102, titled "Kid in a Candy Store," and Episode 103, titled "Miami Vice," both available at 12:01 AM EST on Paramount+ with Showtime. This exciting news is sure to delight fans eagerly awaiting their next dose of Dexter.
2024 Episode Lineup Gets a Shake-Up
This change means that Dexter: Original Sin will feature four episodes in 2024 instead of the previously expected three. Episode 104, "Fender Bender," will now premiere on Friday, December 27, 2024, instead of January 3, 2025. However, this adjustment introduces a one-week hiatus in the series, as the prequel will still wrap up its first season on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, as originally planned.
When Is the Hiatus?
The hiatus will occur between Episode 106, "The Joy of Killing" and Episode 107, "The Big Bad Body Problem" This means there will be no new Dexter episodes between January 11, 2024, and January 23, 2025—a break that hasn’t happened in any prior season of the Dexter franchise.
Why the Schedule Change?
While Showtime and Paramount+ have not confirmed the reason for this scheduling shift, it’s likely tied to the start of production for the highly anticipated sequel, Dexter: Resurrection. According to showrunner Clyde Phillips, production for Resurrection, which will bring Michael C. Hall back as Dexter Morgan, is set to begin during the first week of January 2025. It seems likely that the network and producers are shifting focus to this major new installment, prompting the slight scheduling adjustment for Original Sin.
