Get a behind-the-scenes look at Episode 4 of Dexter: Original Sin!

As 2024 comes to a close, the new year is just around the corner—and with it comes the highly anticipated return of Dexter: Original Sin. The first episode of 2025 drops this Friday, but before diving into what’s next, let’s revisit the most recent episode. Showtime has released an exclusive “Postmortem” featurette, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the suspenseful fourth episode, Fender Bender.

This special video dives deep into the making of the episode, highlighting memorable bloopers, fun moments with the cast, and insightful interviews with key players. Christina Milian (Maria LaGuerta), Patrick Gibson, and writer/executive producer Scott Reynolds share their thoughts and experiences, shedding light on the creative process behind the show.

Christina Milian Reflects on Maria LaGuerta’s First Crime Scene

Milian discussed Maria’s significant moments in this episode, including her focus on overlooked cases:

"You know, she has this big speech with Harry at the beginning about how she's paying attention to the cases that are on the bottom of the board... She wants to make a name for herself, but can she do that with cases no one’s talking about? That challenges her pride, but she knows she has a job to do."

Milian also shared what it’s like working on location:

"I love being out there with the other characters. We joke a lot and have fun between shots, but the crime scenes make it feel real. Seeing a body part on the ground or an alligator in a swamp reminds you of the reality detectives face. You have to bring that authenticity to your performance."

Scott Reynolds on Young Dexter and Brian Moser

Writer and executive producer Scott Reynolds offered fascinating insights into young Dexter’s psyche and the impact of his traumatic past:

"This season, Dexter confronts violence against children, which resonates deeply with him even though he doesn’t understand why. He’s blocked out memories of the chainsaws, the blood, and the trauma he endured as a child. We see baby Dexter mourning the lizards his brother killed. That moment reflects a buried innocence—and raises questions about whether he was born this way or shaped by tragedy."
