Dexter Season 7, Episode 4 - "Run"

Episode 7.04 of Dexter will be called "Run". Any thoughts on the title?

  2. Feels like they're teasing us. Probably has nothing to do with what one would think.

  3. Unimaginative titles compared to those of the past. Doesn't bode well for the writing.

Though my first thought on the title was that line from Walter White...

You have to love extrapolated fringe hyperbole... paranoia that is so overwrought as to be set off by the flapping of butterfly wings on the other side of the universe.

OMG Episodes entitled "Run" means the writing is going to be bad!

It makes you wonder if the internet hasn't robbed the life out of what it is to be a fan of something. It's all about intense cynicism and mass hysteria. Even the casual fans are developing a sort of forlorn gaze accompanied by distracting nervous ticks.

In otherwise... SHEESH! Lighten up a little!

    3. How is "Run" unimaginative for a title? Do you really want for there to be a title of an episode that is going to give the story arc away? While I wouldn't mind tidbits about the show I do not think I want the season to be spoiled with me knowing everything that is going to happen. I like the fact that there will be a "wow holy crap" factor to the season on something I never saw coming. There is so much one could imagine with a title like this. For all we know he could either be on the run from Deb and all of Miami Metro or he will be on the run from the mobster. Heck, one could say someone else is on the run from Dexter, it wouldn't be the first time someone ran out on Dexter when he tried to kill them (Little Chino is a good example not to mention the naked guy that broke out of Dexter's car when Dex was busy helping Lumen) only this time the person got away and probably exposed Dexter. for an unimaginative title it sure making me come up with ideas on what might happen. I have to agree with Z and say don't judge a book by its cover or in this case don't judge an episode title without seeing the episode itself first as it could very well be a climatic episode.

    4. Imaginative titles do not have to give anything away. Descriptive titles do. There is a difference.
I am a die-hard fan who has been forced to become twice shy by the writers themselves. If just the quality of Dexter's voice-overs in the last 2 seasons are anything to go by, then it's clear that the current writers are only good at the Quinn brand of cool quips and generic humor, rather than the unique flair in language that made Dexter and the show so exceptional. If my criticism bothers anyone, and only sheep-like adulation can be tolerated here (the kind Scott Buck takes for granted now) then as the site suggests, ignore my post.

I love your posts. You're a great writer with beautiful expression.

      Just saying.

Actually, there are some really thoughtful and intelligent, well written posts on this site, in general. All credit to some of the fans who articulate well and discuss the complexities, challenges and subtleties of this show. I enjoy reading and participating.

Enough of the love fest. I'm just going to slope off now and die in a pool of my own vomit...

Now if I can just convince an agent or publisher of the same thing, perhaps I can get my damn novel sold! Ha ha!

  4. Run because the Russian mob is after you. Wouldn't be the first time Dexter had to run. Season 2 when Dexter went after little Chino, Dexter ran. Dexter hid all night in a sewer gutter.

  5. I so want Dexter to have to go on the run for a season. We desperately need a break up in the monotonous formula that's been going on since season 2 ended.

The show is at it's best when Dexter is in danger of being found out by everyone. It doesn't get any better than Season 2. They need to find a way to get back to that level.

    1. How many close calls can we have before it get's tedious? I think we're already at that point. I know it's not exactly what you said but been there done that.

    2. But this time there would be an end game. They've already said that Season 7 will arc into season 8. It really shouldn't feel formulaic this time.
I agree with RobUsry. There has to be something major at stake, and it should have mostly to do with Dexter.
Please God, no more Debra heartburns. This show is not called "Debra".

    1. I agree. I can't believe she is even there in episode 4?? They could throw us all off and have Dexter on a 2-year run until the end. Was any of his former "victims" Russian? I think you a right though - Debra will have to find out how many are actually Dexters (if she can) - she's got that neurotic personality

  7. Run could mean anything, you morons!

  8. Although "Run" could mean anything, at least it doesn't say "Dexter Runs From The Cops" and spoil everything. (Not that he does. I have no clue.)

  9. I don't understand how anyone can draw such a conclusion from a one-word title of an episode that we know NOTHING about. To say "Oh here we go it's unimaginative and just like the last few seasons blah blah" just shows some people's ignorance. You really base your opinion on one word and your previous dislike for the show's season/seasons? Get over yourselves and go write a drama for television if you're so unhappy.

    1. You seem upset. Why are you angry? We we're asked to give our thought on the title and that's what people are doing. Noone is stating facts here..

    2. I don't get the oversensitive reaction. Anyone would think I'd slandered your husband or something. I find "Run" to be dull because I've found the writing to be dull since episode 7 of the last season. So, it's all of a piece. The 2nd half of last season has been miserably bad. If you (Anonymous 2:21) cannot see how far the show has dropped, then it is you who are ignorant, my dear. You are unquestioning and will watch any dumbed-down pap dished out as long as it's Michael C. Hall looking hot and as long as the show is on air. Fans like you have helped the demise of many a great show.

  10. 'Run' just makes me think of Snow Patrol.

    I need to lie down...

But before I do... You can run as far and as fast as you can away from whatever it is you don' t want to face BUT you CANNOT run away from who you are. It catches up with you in the end. All it takes is a mirror.
