Via: digitalspy.co.uk: Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter has revealed that she only plans to film eight seasons.
The serial killer drama has been picked up for a seventh and eighth run by Showtime, with network president David Nevins suggesting that the show could continue beyond that point. However, Carpenter - who plays Debra Morgan - told Digital Spy: "I think I'm gonna do eight."
"You never know, but my hope is that people are like, 'God, I wish Dexter was still on' or 'God, I wish it had gone on for one more year'." The actress added that Dexter - which stars Michael C Hall as the eponymous killer - has been a "game-changing" series.
"I just don't think that we want to overstay our welcome," she explained.
Hall previously hinted that his character could meet a dark fate in the Dexter series finale.
"I think [in the new episodes] I'll be challenged to incorporate some very new and powerful dynamics into Dexter's world," said the actor. "To be honest, it's difficult for me to foresee an entirely happy ending for the character."
The sixth season of Dexter airs in the UK on Fridays at 10pm on FX. The series returns to Showtime in the US on Sunday, September 30 at 9/8c.

NO!! DEXTER is, by far, the best show/series I have ever watched; and I hope that it can continue past 8 seasons. I am NOT ready to "let go" of DEXTER!!
ReplyDeleteTrue that!! =)
DeleteIm a huge Dexter fan, but they should have ended it some seasons ago, but i still love the show.
DeleteBtw, i asure you, Breaking Bad is, by far, the best show/series in TV history, check it out, becaus srsly, i thought the same as you until i watched Breaking Bad
Definitely not true. Breaking Bad is good, but The Wire is by far the greatest thing ever on TV, followed closely by the Sopranos, and then there's a steep drop-off afterwards.
DeleteOMG what is up with these dumb Breaking Bad, they are worse than the door to door evangelists with their pamphlets.
DeleteYou know what? Now I am never going to watch your damn show. I hate you. I don't want to be one of the ten thousand chosen ones, now get off my door step... AND GO AWAY!
Wow. Somebody's angry for no real reason. Someone was comparing similar shows and came up with his own conclusion. You sound rather stupid right about now with the unnecessary vitriol to a person who clearly doesn't hate Dexter.
Delete8:22
DeleteI think many of us are just tired of Breaking Bad fans coming to Dexter forums to tell us their show "is better". And that is exactly what 6:23 did. It's like a Star Wars fan logging onto a Trek forum to go on a tangent about how much better Star Wars is. The only reason to do it is to start trouble. This is called "trolling".
Is it really? Trolling is done specifically to get a reaction. I think this guy was just putting out his opinion, just like the guy who said The Wire was the best thing on TV. By that logic, 8:25 should've chewed out the guy who said The Wire was the best.
Delete8:08 was doing a rebuttal. The poster did not come here to provoke a reaction as did 6:23 who has been beating the same drum over and over here for the past few weeks. (Either that or it is an organized group of BrBa fans) That being the case - 8:25 should not have taken the bait. If they get you mad, they win.
DeleteWow you people are really stupid. Im 6.23, i only posted my opinion, i wasn't trolling faggots, i was just saying..
DeleteI LOVE Dexter, but i just think BrBa is better.
If i have to choose? Dexter,
Why? Im a huge fan, long ago, but i honestly think the show should have ended in season 5 maybe, but a good one, like Quinn figuring out everything and Dexter getting killed or in prision...
And for The Wire guy, im gonna check it out, i've heared some good stuff
MCH already said 8 will be it . i dont want it to end but better for them to end it on a good note than leave it go and ruin a good show :) cant wait to see what the next 2 seasons have in store
ReplyDeleteYea, it needs to be over so she can go out there and win some Oscars!
ReplyDelete:)
Agree. The cast wants to do other things. It's just that they will always be known for this great show ad that's not bad at all!
