Michael C. Hall on Dexter Season 7 & Final Season: "I Imagine a Shakespearean Tragedy Ending"
Read below a great new interview with Michael C. Hall, on Crave Online. He talks about the current season, the final season of Dexter and many more.
Did you know that Debra would eventually learn about Dexter’s Dark Passenger years ago?
Well, I think from the beginning we all imagined that if the show lasted beyond a certain point that it was in the cards. There’s too much tension there for that dam not to eventually break and create the new tension that it’s created. In the pilot episode, when we’re getting to know Dexter and his world and he talks about his sister, this is pilot episode Dexter, but he says, “If I could feelings at all or for anyone, I’d have them for Deb.”
We see her come into an awareness of some sort of deeper more conflict-laden feelings for him but I think it’s undeniable to him that he has a genuine connection to her and that he does genuinely care about her, and care about her and other people close to him, namely his son, in ways that he can’t deny, and yet he does maintain an allegiance to his compulsion. It’s bananas. Jennifer and I have really enjoyed playing this new dynamic. It feels really fresh.
Does that mean the romantic undertones between them that were suggested last season are really over?
I won’t say definitively either way but I think in a way, Deb’s coming into an awareness of her feelings or potential feelings for her foster brother maybe softened her to a degree that she wouldn’t have otherwise been, and made her that much more potentially able to swallow the pill that she has to swallow now. Dexter's Prop Master Talks How He Made the Show's Most Gruesome Set Pieces
Via: vulture.com by Gwynne Watkins: On Sunday's episode of Dexter, Miami Metro unearthed a pair of rotted corpses wrapped in a shower curtain: the long-buried victims of this season's obligatory serial killer, Wayne Randall. If you were watching in HD, you may have noticed the skeletons' disturbingly realistic remnants of hair and muscle or the cockroaches emerging from at least one orifice. That gory scene was masterminded by Joshua Meltzer, the prop master responsible for crafting all the blood, body parts, crime scenes, and weapons in Dexter Morgan's universe. "I've created a lot of wonderful and memorable props over the years, but Dexter is a prop master's dream," says Meltzer, who has been working in television for 36 years (including runs on Who's the Boss?, Dinosaurs, and The Vampire Diaries). Among the unique challenges presented to Dexter's prop department: mounting dismembered body parts on horseback, cramming live bodies into barrels, building a seven-headed alligator, and filling many, many bathtubs with blood. Vulture asked Meltzer to break down nine of the show's most iconic death scenes, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how nightmares are created (and a major hint about the ending of season seven). Dexter Season 7, Episode 5: “SWIM DEEP” Recap & Review
After the satisfying and yet perfectly dissonant conclusion
of last week’s thrilling, relentless “Run,” we have skidded violently down the
many heart-pounding left turns in Dexter’s
latest installment, “Swim Deep!” Few episodes have ever kept us so immersed in
the depths. And
newer faces are becoming familiar—a little too familiar for comfort. Have you come up for air yet? If not, catch the upward current and
check out the mini-synopsis below, followed by an in-depth review of just what
Dexter is getting himself, his beloved sister, and the rest of Miami into,
right after the jump! Seat belts and life jackets recommended. Breathe deep, and let's do this. CAUTION: SPOILERS AHEAD. MORE SCREENSHOTS
COMING!
THE BREAKDOWN: After a
violent up-and-down go of things in the reconciling Debra to the nature of his darkness,
Dexter talks boat and life maintenance with the angel-on-the-shoulder Harry,
who warns Dexter that Debra has not yet accepted him and may not ever be able
to do so. Dexter argues on the behalf of Debra’s incredible resilience until he
abruptly discovers a bloody mess on the side of the Slice of Life’s deck. It isn’t long before the blood tells all and
a rather unwelcome but disconcertingly comfortable guest appears in Dexter’s
apartment. As Dexter seeks to outmaneuver a potent new foe and protect his faithful
sister in the process, he encounters a familiar darkness in the blonde,
beguiling Hannah McKay, who is sticking with a lie that he immediately sees
through and into, deeper than either of them yet understand. Meanwhile, Quinn
finds himself in a dangerous position with Nadia and the operators of the
Foxhole, and Debra realizes that her repeated interventions in Miami Metro
cases on Dexter’s behalf aren’t simply out of common courtesy, but out of a
loyalty and love she can’t seem to shake... Skip the jump for more!

Lauren Velez Using Crowdfunding Site Kickstarter to Fund ‘La Lupe’ Film
Via: dailynews.com: To raise money for her pet project, Lauren Velez is using a newfangled method of an old-fashioned custom — passing the hat.
Velez, the Queens native who co-stars as police captain Maria Laguerta on Showtime’s serial-killer drama “Dexter,” is attempting to raise $100,000 through pledges on Kickstarter.com to help finance an independent film, “They Call Me La Lupe,” based on the turbulent life of the iconic, fiery Cuban singer who died in 1992.
While more than 70,000 writers, painters, dancers, film makers, video-game designers and other artistic types have used the New York-based creative crowdfunding site to raise money since it was founded three years ago, it’s rare to find a TV star among Kickstarter’s long list of unknown artists looking for donations.
