ReplyDeleteThey should troll us with another one featuring Masuka.
Deleteheheheheh autoerotic mummification
DeleteYeah. I know exactly what happened. x)
DeleteThese are arty, kinda creepy, and yet... erotic.
ReplyDeleteWeird but cool.
Z
poor deb
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Deb at the end of her promo looks up, towards a faraway light (something external : Harry the almighty god?) and Dexter in his promo looks almost right at us but not quite. Bathed in the same light (Harry ?) he doesn't look up to it, he keeps it internal. Both are bare so to speak and the garbage sheet does suggest all kinds of collisions besides the obvious sexual one.
ReplyDeleteReally well done promos in my opinion, the esthetic reminds me a lot of season 1 for some reason
Cain
yes, season 1, same here. that makes me happy
Deleteagree patrick,,,ohhhhhhh i will love deb and dexter
Deleteoh,,i dont liked rita
Season 1: by far the best, but also the saddest.
Deleteinterestingly enough you catch a quick glimpse of Dexter at 0:22 seconds so it wasn't all deb under the sheets. I wonder if this was intentionally put in as a foreshadow
ReplyDeleteUh, why does everybody think that they're sleeping together in this spot (not that I mind, though)? They're both having trouble sleeping because Deb has found out Dexter's true colours, and Dexter is, obviously, upset with the fact that she knows and he doesn't know how to cope with it (yet). I don't see anything sexual here. They're not even in that bed together.
DeleteYealsaidlt -
DeleteIt's called "subtext" - do you look at Dali's painting of bread and say "it's just bread?" no... there is a hell of a lot more to it than that.
Same with these promo's - the way they are shot, narrated, and staged, the sheets are black, which brings to mind Dexter's garbage bags that he puts body parts in, the camera is moving over figures writhing in sheets and it flashes back and forth between Dex and Deb - there is an overall theme of nightmares and sex and death and of course, light and dark. It's very beautifully done.
So yea, they are hitting all the themes at once, and very much playing with the sexual tension between the two. Quite obvious which is why so many posters are referring to it. :)
Z
Another thing... there are two pillows on the bed. Dexter is on the right side, Deb is on the left, in the one photo you see Dexter staring up, and the spot next to him looks as if it has been slept in, there is a depression in the empty pillow.
Delete:)
That is exactly what I see Z. While I am not saying they will be jumping in bed together and will have sex with eachother I do see that there is some sexual subtext between Deb and Dexter. I think these promos are brilliant because the writers are letting us know they are not forgetting the storyline involving Deb being in love with Dexter along with the fact that she now knows his secret. The writers have said that regardless of weather fans like the thought of Dexter and Deb being in love or not they will not shy off the storyline and will focus on it sometime within season seven.
DeleteAll the show needed to do was plant their idea of sexual tension between these two, and people back-tracked to the start of the show, saying it was always there. For 5 years, I never saw a single post on any site saying there was something between these two. Now people have Dex & Deb sexual tension coming out of their ears.
DeleteThe team may have thought this way because an off-screen bond bled into their on-screen creation, but show me one fan comment/post from Season 1 to 5 where anyone ever said there was something sexual between these two. People can be such sheep.
They are never going to get these two into bed. The negative reaction to last season made sure of that. For all Sara Colleton's bravado about not ditching that storyline, they won't do much with it. Except intensify Deb's suffering because of her mangled love for Dex. Showtime cares too much about the show's popularity to really make a bold move. They are not AMC.
Delete1:29
DeleteThere have been Dex/Deb love video's up on Youtube for years and fans arguing it for years, though granted, NOT as much in S 3,4, and 5 - and I will get into that at the end of my post, but it was always there, and there were always several fans who brought it up, once even at the Paley forum during S4 which evoked a comment from Sara that "maybe there was something there..." the moderator of that panel ripped on the person who asked the question, but then Michael C. Hall immediately stood up for the fan who asked it.
The subject vanished after a big debate during S2/3 on Show's Dexter boards because it caused such a ruckus that there were mass deletions and a few bans by moderators, and then it got buried completely by the explosion over Rita's death in S4 - the appearance of Lumen, which so irritated the Deb/Dex prophets that many stopped posting on the subject out of frustration and a sense that they had been proven wrong by the ghastly detour that was season 5. Many of us were driven underground by that season... we thought that the writers had dropped the ball on Deb/Dex for good. Thank you S6!!!!!
Did the marriage of the actors affect perception? Possibly, BUT that does not explain what was going on in the novels!
See in the novels it was much more obvious - of course you have the situation where the creator/author of Dexter just happened to have married the girl he grew up with - which is why he often jokes that he is in an "arranged marriage", and that he and his wife fought like "siblings" when they were kids, and so on. I am sure that much of the author's wife has bled into the Debra character - just like bits of himself are probably in Dexter.
So, before you start insulting everyone here, calling us "sheep" - you ask how we could see it, we ask how is it that you missed it? How could anyone have ever read the first novel, or watched the first season of this show and not clearly seen the sexual tension, which was stronger in the first book/season than ANY other season except for the end of six? I've never met a single person in real life that did not see it right away after watching the show for the first time. Most people ask "Wait, which one is his girlfriend - the blonde or the brunette?" - the flirtation is that extreme.
In the first novel Dex/Deb hold hands and blush at each other in their second conversation. Dexter fixates on how beautiful Debra is - and fantasizes that the world is wiped out by a nuclear holocaust with only himself and, oh yea! Deb! That old male fantasy, just me and my girl - alone in the world!
Of course, at the end of the first novel, when Dexter is standing over Deb with the knife, he has a real Freudian moment when he starts calling her "Debby Mommy Debby Mommy Debby Mommy" - um, yea, nobody who read that ever got a weird sexual vibe from that - I am sure!
The writers of the TV show took that subtext even further, by having Deb have a sexual relationship with Dexter's biological brother - the problem with the series, and why they got away from the Deb/Dex sexual tension, is that the producers got way too wrapped up in the concept of "Dexter trying to be a good family man with Rita and the kids" which took the series in the wrong direction.
Those kids were never intended to be "normal" and Rita was never supposed to become this "strong independent woman" Those were NOT the characters that were introduced to us in S1 - Rita was damaged, so were those kids, that was exactly the point, by making them suddenly "fine" it forced the show to get rid of them completely in order to get back to what Dexter is supposed to be about.
Which is where we are now, at last, thank God!
Z

DeleteYou are very cynical about Showtime and the producers of this show, aren't you?
Unfortunately, you may be right. People say they will be brave, but in my experience, whenever a big group of self-appointed morality police make a big stink, the stinkers usually get their way.
Z
totally agree about showtime and morality, so i belive too: "dexter NEVER could even think in kill debra, many people that i know would stopped watch the show even he hurt her feelings !!!
Deleteshowtime never COULD a dexter whithout a code
Rita was killed but never COULD be killed for Dexter
Anon 2:35, YOU ARE AWESOME. I LOVE YOU.
Deleteanon 1:36 and Z
DeleteI honestly believe they will go through with it. The "Incest" theme is all the rage right now. and if Showtime had a problem with it they would have intervened last season. But the Showtime head David Nevins seems very supportive of the direction the show's taking. Partly I'm sure because it IS controversial and the ratings remained strong.
And then comes these two new promos. It's a teaser yes, it is mean to tease and provokes but it looks a bit like a subtle *fuck you* (pardon my language) to those who dislike the Deb/Dex thing too. At least that's what I feel. Like "Hey, too bad folks! Yes we're going there, and if you don't like it tough!" It suggest a little bit too much for me to think otherwise. Maybe I'll be proven wrong... we'll just have to wait and see. But I'm not really worried.
The only reason they wouldn't go there would be because of the actors. Because this is quite a unique situation. I don't recall another show faced with this situation : the two lead actors playing brother and sister falling in love at the start of their show, getting married, divorced and then expected to play lovers... Only MCH and JC could put a stop to it. But they've proven they are quite dedicated and professional actors perfectly capable of separating their personal and professional lives.
Cain
If Shotime see this out to an actual physical relationship between the two this could be one of the worst decisions in television history. What's next, is it all going to be a dream of an autistic child? Like I said before, Nobody but a few creepers want to see this.
DeleteOr maybe YOU are the only one who does not want to see it.
Delete3:09
DeleteThank you for calling us all creepers. We the fans who like to post about our favorite show, appreciate having our morality called into question because of a storyline we enjoy.
Since enjoying something on television defines our morality, that must mean we all condone and support the killing on Dexter as well as the meth cooking on Breaking Bad, the wanton war, slaughter and twin on twin incest in Game of Thrones, as well as zombies eating people in Walking Dead.
Because that's just the way we roll, we are all degenerates.
Hey, 3:09 - can I ask you why someone as moral and pure as the driven snow is here making posts on a Dexter board?
Z
This is the best Dex/Deb Scene IMO : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sf8cM7f6P2I&feature=relmfu
ReplyDeleteThat was such a stupid video but I couldn't help but laugh at it.
Deletei think Deb looking up symbolizes that either she will see the "light" in dexter, or since the light is shining down on her, maybe she will be Dexter's "light." Dexter has a dark passenger, i'm pretty sure Deb will be the one to "tame" his darkness. but that's just my own opinion
ReplyDeleteagree, cause without a litlle light dont make sense deb forgive him...in this show
Deleteshe dont would forgive brian,,etc totally dark ,
She didn't forgive Brian because what he "had to offer" wasn't real
Deleteyes meghan, is true
DeleteWHAT ARE YOU DOING?! ANOTHER PROMO? ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME? I just got over the last promo by accepting I'll have to wait until September... -sob-
ReplyDeleteNot until September, only until Friday (or Thursday, if you are at Comic-Con).
DeleteJust realized it's already thursday.
Deletetick tick tick...
These two promos are right up there in the list of the most creative promotional material that has been released for Dexter. Excellent. They make me feel like this season is going to break all boundaries and be more challenging than anything that has preceded.
ReplyDeleteamen
DeleteZ
what is it at 0.16?blond hair!!
ReplyDeleteHey, don't yoy think this song fits Dexter well if you change some of the lyrics? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl-fM58VIe8
ReplyDeleteNobody wants to see this subplot continue. Have they not seen the comments on Facebook, IMDB, and countless other places where 99% of the fanbase has openly expressed their displeasure with it? Why do they insist on continuing this? Nobody f-cking cares if they are not blood relatives, they still don't wanna see it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not refusing to watch this upcoming season, because I don't know how far they are going to take this. If it's merely a few things implied, but never realized I wouldn't care. There are sick people out there who have sick thoughts and maybe Deb is one of them? Thinking it may be sick, but wouldn't stop me from watching. Having the characters act on it? Now that could make me stop watching.
I am hard pressed to think of something met with more disagreement before it's actual release. Nobody but a few creepers want to see this.
Then i guess i'm a creeper who wants to see a more developed relationship between Dexter and Debra. It's really sad, actually. Iv'e seen what people say on Facebook and IMDB and Youtube about these two. Anyone who says the will STOP watching the show if this story line continues, then they can go right ahead and stop watching. the writers don't give a shit if people stop watching ir not. they will do whatever they want and whatever works best for the show. the true fans of the show will stick around no matter what. We root for a serial killer to get rid of all the bad people, but god forbid his adopted sister falls for him! Sometimes, i just don't get people. No one is ever pleased. If things don't go their way, they just complain and bitch about it on the internet. I'm bitching because i feel like this could take the show in a new, exciting, and crazy direction, but everyone is TOO afraid to give a chance.
DeleteSMH(shake my head) :/
You know what? Writers/Show runner do see/hear it.
DeleteAnd they don't give a fuck either.
If they're going to do it, like I and many want them to (YES THERE ARE ALOT), they will. I hope they do it just to spite those fans too.
You mean the creepers who whatch a show about a serial killer ? Chopping people into bits? We're all creeps then.
DeleteThe truth of the matter is : internet feedback doesn't matters.
Only ratings and numbers do. And the show has never been more successful.
It doesn't really matters what you or I wants to see happen in the show. The writers we'll do what they want whatever our opinion is. As it should be. And well, the show has been renewed for 2 final seasons, the writers have en end date now, and already knows how it's going to end so really I think they don't give a sh*t. They really can do pretty much what they want with no fear of a backlash because when september comes the seventh season would have pretty much wrapped and no matter what people say it will be already too late. And frankly that makes me happy.
PS : I understand why Z was so irritated. Theses kinds of comments are rather tiring in their narrow-mindedness. Repeat after me it is ONLY a tv show it is NOT reality.
Cain

They don't care how good the food is, they are just there to chew on shit.

"There are sick people out there who have sick thoughts"
DeleteAnd then there are judgy people who have judgy thoughts. There are also hypocritical people having hypocritical thoughts. And some of them happen to watch Dexter and comment on forums. Funny how cutting people alive into little pieces and watching them die in fear and enjoying it makes thrilling TV but two legally competent consenting adults without any potentially genetically harmful consanguinity can't have sex because that would be icky. But that's USA to you. Weapons yeah, sex yuck.

Have you ever thought that's why we have never seen Dexter chopping up the bodies? Anyone knowing the knife is going in, and if you watch it they don't dwell on it... you aren't right, you have an opinion but you talk like it is the only right one, well, it isn't. Opinions are just that. Yours is no more important than anyone's and you are actually OBSESSED with this story line, on all the boards and places you just put down! I just had to explain to a bunch of people on the IMDb boards who you were, they were wondering because someone referred to your particular penchant for this story line to go forward if you were a character coming on that they hadn't heard of! What a laugh that was old Z man! And, it is tiresome to listen to you rant on and on about this, do you have a sister you can go and talk into bed? Please do and get on with your life!
DeleteExactly 3:24 PM
ReplyDeleteThose people need to get over it or stop watching.
thank you :)
DeleteI think i might as well put my name so people know who to reply to. I also wrote the comment at 10:06 PM :)
You're welcome :)
DeleteHm.. Curious. You wouldn't happen to be the Abby on tumblr with the other half your name is pandemonium (not sure if you want it public) would ya? If so, you come up a lot on searches and I reblogged you something long on Dex/Deb thing haha and maybe couple times afterwards.
totally agree joe,,i HATE morality about this show
Deletei dont care if dexter kill this trash and danm people and i dont care if dexter would fuck the sister
and the poeple who dexter will is pure trash
YES that is me! Satanicpandemonium :)
DeleteAnd thanks for reblogging. I am pretty serious and defensive when it comes to Dexter and debra.
Ah wow. Small world. Haha. I am too, actually. Makes too much sense w/them. Yeah, I wrote back not too long ago something really long about that, agreeing how it could work, hints at it seasons past that people ignore/refuse to see, etc. Not sure you saw it.
DeleteI'm dissonance19 on there :)
Abby are you also Vilesangel on Youtube, or am I wrong on that one?
DeleteZ
YES i am also Villesangel666 on youtube :D wow small world indeed! I made a playlist called Dexter and Debra and its just videos of them together. What your Youtube username? i think i know yours also.
DeleteI thought so! We've talked before. I am Zedul of course - both on Youtube and Deviant Art. Yes, I am "THAT" guy - the immoral photographer who does photos for all those trashy art nude magazines and erotic euro coffee table books! But I also write novels, so if you can get past the fact that I take artistic pictures of nekkid people, you'll find that I am not quite the big-bad-wolf some have made me out to be. :)
DeleteWatching Dexter, rooting for the Deb/Dex love story, and being "me" has put me on several shit-lists so this is pretty much the only place I post anymore - unless I am antagonizing a hater on Youtube. ;)
Here I always try to be gentle. I leave the head slamming to Needle and Jessie.
Z
I had a feeling it was you, Zedul! Dude i always got your back on youtube. People just love being complete jackasses and diss almost every fan made video of Dexter and Debra, and can't get pass the fact that it is not Incest. it's like half the viewers ignored major details from S1. People still think Harry is Dexter's real father.
DeleteI know Abby and I appreciate it. :)
DeleteIt's good to see you posting here!
Z
Everyone I know personally (not through the internet) is excited about the potential hook-up between Dexter and Deb. I hope, hope, hope they go there.
ReplyDeleteI never watched this show (or any television show, for that matter) to get a dose of morality. Usually, a straight-laced character is an uninteresting character.
I have enough confidence in myself to know that watching a couple actors play adoptive siblings having hot make-pretend sex isn't going to make me want to have sex with one of my own siblings (if it does make you question your own level of intimacy with your siblings, than you probably have much bigger problems, and their not the Dexter writers' fault). I feel most people are sane enough to be in the same boat.
So--what's with so much discomfort? Is the bulk of internet complaint coming from missionary-style-sex-for-procreation-onlies? Probably not altogether. I just hope, whether you like the Deb/Dex being hot plot-line or not, that you question yourself past your initial visceral reaction. Or not. I guess it doesn't really matter to me either way.
spot on!
Deletehi abby is me,,,ann, i love dexter and deb like a couple and many people like too
ReplyDeletedeb and dexter would nothing a sweet couple
abby ,,,i support dex and deb too
i have tumblr and many friends that like deb and dexter too!!!!
Which serious artist would ever pay attention to or even spend time to read...imdb message boards. hahahahahaha nice one!. They're doing the dex/deb thing, for some reason i'm sure of that and i'm cheering already. When they tried to make the show milder due to the reaction to the groundbreaking season 4 finale that made many infants cry in despair, they saw that the show's quality dropped and so did the fanbase. Ironically, season 5 is a least favourite season. They won't chicken out again, the clock is ticking, they can't afford it.
ReplyDeleteLol there was one time when Terry Crews was on the imdb board for the expendables 2, just trolling everyone. He tweeted about it later so it did seem legit.
DeleteAnyway I wonder how many of the whiners saying they're gonna stop watching the show actually will do so. I highly doubt it's more than a handful.
Also, Hi Abby!!
people have too much free time to whine about stuff on the internet. i stopped reading imdb boards a long time ago, these boards are for 16 year olds. who is abby
DeleteAgreed. I do like to check in on a movie I'm planning to see every once in a while though. For example I was close to wasting my time and money on Prometheus. phu :)
DeleteNo idea who Abby is.
i don't trust people, so i never bother to check threads on imdb or reviews. i read enough to have a general idea and that's pretty much it for me.
DeleteWhat's up bestie? You seem cold :/
DeleteYou know where to find me.
patrick bateman abby is cool bro, and you like me, dont like morality about Dexter tv show, so I agree with you about many things ,,
Deletei cant wait for season 7 too
Haha hello guys, I am Abby :) Nice to meet you, Patrick and Patrik.
Deletehi abby,,anny,,
DeleteThis is probably my favorite S7 promo so far! Poor Deb...she's probably really going to go through it this year. But I'm curious....I know at this point that the books and the show differ greatly (I've never actually read them, heard they kind of suck), but doesn't Debra already know about Dex in the books? How did she come to terms with it? Are they killing together?
ReplyDeleteno, she just dont care about so much,,i prefer deb in the books!!! very badass
Delete@Anon 10:20 She knows and doesn't care?? Wow....different Debra!
DeleteShe cares... she almost turned him in at one point, but then she got stabbed and realized she loved him too much and gave Dexter permission to go after the guy who knifed her.
DeleteThen in book 5 she really took a turn when she saw a rich kid killing girls and getting away with it because of his dad's money - so she gave this big dramatic "Dad was right to train you Dexter, you represent REAL JUSTICE!" speech and told Dex to go get the kid. The end of the book ends with Dexter putting the bastard down and bringing Deb the bloodslide as a "gift" ... from that point on, Deb refers to her and Dexter as "we" and asks for details on who he puts down.

Interesting how those "dont count", but you are offering absolutely nothing to support your stance that people want to see this. Solid case you've got going there chief.
""You mean the creepers who watch a show about a serial killer ? Chopping people into bits? We're all creeps then.""
If you want to think I'm a creep for watching Dexter off a bunch of sickos, go ahead. I don't care. It doesn't bother me.
""And then there are judgy people who have judgy thoughts.""
Is this supposed to hurt my feelings? Yes, I judge people. I'm not ashamed to admit it. Most people deny they do it, but I don't.

DeleteYour hostility and general assery is not going to win you many friends here.
#1 My point about IMDB is that people go there specifically to rant and bitch. There are two places on the internet where you find the most foul and ridiculous posters imaginable. IMDB and AICN (Ain't it Cool News) - people who post on those sites hate everything. There are there specifically to rant and rave and get the weak minded worked up, so why worry about it? As far as supporting my stance? The polls and most Dexter sites were 40- 60 at first, and now they are about 50-50, it seems more and more fans are accepting or in favor of it, so new viewers are either coming to the internet to voice opinions or people who used to oppose it are changing their mind after seeing reason.
#2 Yes we think you are a creep for watching Dexter! LOL, seriously, that was irony kiddo - sarcasm - I think you may be arguing a bit out of your range.
#3 It's obvious that you judge people, it's also obvious that you are rude, condescending, and not very good at having a discussion. You miss the subtext in every argument, you come out insulting the other people you are trying to talk to and your best argument is "prove it" which is the weakest argument that any debater can make. If you want to participate in a discussion, explain to us WHY you feel it is wrong. Coming in here and calling us creeps and mouthing off and saying stupid shit is rather pointless when you can't even hold up your own britches.

Deletethe text was too long, i never read it, you're boring. be gone now, child.
she cares but not like deb in tv show would care
ReplyDeletei hate it,,,care about kill killers, ok care about her job i understand , but dexter dont kill human beings , and his reasons ....is his business why he kill , i just like it
how "dexter in the books"felt about debra be hurt? like in tv show? 4x05? " id deb dies i will be lost "
ReplyDeleteIn the books he was more dramatic about it. He had a meltdown in the car, going back and forth between telling himself "How can I have feelings - OMG if she dies I am going to lose it" then in the hospital he is freaking out. "Why aren't the doctors doing anything - call the national guard, call the army, calling the navy! DAMMIT! Deb is dying somebody do something!"
DeleteThen later when they tell him, if she lives she might be brain damaged from the blood loss - he goes into this long diatribe about how he is going to give up being a killer so he can take care of his brain damaged sister - how he will have to feed her pablum, and change her diapers, and wipe the drool off her chin - and sit with her and watch the sunset until they grow old together.
It was pretty intense, I was reading that and thinking "now that is love"
Z
i am very surprise !! cause in the books he is very cold, in the tv show many people say that he is more emotional about the things
Deletethanks for tell me
in 4x05 the danger in the hospital, about deb is very fast
